l'estomac
Do you think Solas has ever held Ithena's hand and, while soaking in its warmth and feeling its weight, felt guilty that she got dragged into this whole Inquisition business in the first place? But then it also occurred to him that without all that, they likely never would have met and well, he would have missed her. For a few moments he basks in that feeling, before he chides himself for being selfish and the guilt returns, because surely she would've been better off without him.
Do you think he ever pressed a kiss to her marked hand, or dreamed of it, at least?
I think you mentioned the Inquisitor losing their hand in the end, so imagine after their reunion he would put in a lot of effort to open doors for her and hold other things, like he's trying to fill in for what she lost and she watches him with a fond smile and a giggle as the mighty Dread Wolf she was taught to fear all her life flits around her like an overexcited puppy.
you haven't even played the game, how do you manage to be this spot on to bully me and one shot me like this
God that whole first paragraph is so haunting. Now this is all i'm going to think about all day long for sure. The guilt of dragging her into it and the relief he got to know her and the guilt of even feeling this way. God.
I totally do imagine him pressing kisses on her marked hand with that in mind, especially considering he is the one who had to cast spells on her hand so to make sure the mark doesn't go out of control and kill her at first. Of kissing the hand he once took care of as a tool, a means to an end, and now deeply aware that this pain is linked to the woman he loves the most.
And indeed, the Inquisitor loses their hand in the end (more specifically the mark gets worse in worse and starts to destroy their arm (like, it explodes and stuff), so Solas lures them where he is to remove their arm with the mark to save their life.). So Solas is double responsible for the Inquisitor missing a hand, both because it is his ritual going wrong that caused it in the first place, and then because he had to do damage control to save them.
So the idea of him being extremely guilty about it and being even more careful with her, making sure she doesn't push herself even if she has a prosthesis? is very accurate and makes me feel dizzy.
After all this time Ithena wouldn't even hold resentment for all of this so she'd just find it extremely cute that he's looking out for her this way. And indeed, the Dread Wolf she learnt to fear all her life was an overexcited puppy. "May the Dread Wolf take you" is a curse she has heard when she was young and it never occured to her that he would once take her hand and never let it go.
Thanks. I'm going to have worms all day now. Wow.
