Of kissing the hand he once took care of as a tool, a means to an end, and now deeply aware that this pain is linked to the woman he loves the most.

And indeed, the Inquisitor loses their hand in the end (more specifically the mark gets worse in worse and starts to destroy their arm (like, it explodes and stuff), so Solas lures them where he is to remove their arm with the mark to save their life.). So Solas is double responsible for the Inquisitor missing a hand, both because it is his ritual going wrong that caused it in the first place, and then because he had to do damage control to save them.
