Among the Illati--a predominantly orc society in the Ascana Peninsula--it is customary to choose your own name as part of a coming of age ritual, which is usually held around age 16-18, but in some tribes it is as young as 12 or 13.
If you think many of them grow up to regret the names they picked as teenagers, please remember that everybody they have ever known picked their name at the same age, their family introductions sound like a death metal festival lineup, and orcs got no time for your cringe culture.
