Nothing in his life ever seemed to go his way or stay simple. Medkit felt himself being pulled this way and that by almost everyone around him and above him, but he'd finally freed himself from Blackrock. The church was supposed to bring him the stability and safety he so desired, especially now that he was certain Subspace would be hunting him down for what he'd done.

The bastard deserved it and more for everything they'd put Medkit through.

And yet, Subspace was often the only Inphernal that he'd ever see. The only warm body that would touch him at all. Even if most of that touch was just pain or business, even if most looks cast his way were annoyance or disgust. Some broken, twisted part of himself craved more of it.

Apparently Subspace felt similarly, or perhaps they just wanted to wring some more misery out of him.

Some late nights in the lab would lead to passionate hate-sex against a cabinet or with Medkit pushed face down on the floor. There was no thinking behind what they'd done, barely any words besides Medkit tapping out and Subspace complaining about the mess afterwards.

There was a more than likely chance that this was also Subspace's fault, the last laugh of the mad and vindictive scientist, when Medkit thought he'd finally gotten away..

The timeline certainly could match up, he didn't know how far along he was, but he'd started feeling tired and sore more frequently than usual for an Inphernal his age. But their last tryst had been only just over a month ago.

But then there was when Medkit had arrived and was taken under Father Overseer's wing and granted this asylum in Lost Temple. Someone among the Church of The True Eye had caught his eye, and he'd caught hers.

A tall amputee with a missing eye all the same as he. Brash, bold, and beautiful.

And deadly. She was a personal hitman for the Church and had deaths under her belt that would rival a colleague of Subspace's that he never bothered to remember the name of.

Scythe and he weren't close emotionally, more akin to friends. He patched her up, made her a new prosthetic arm, and even kitted out her gear to include a rifle.

He took to calling her Rifle after that in a joking manner, but it stuck.

And Scythe was just so well beloved by the other members, so open and easy to speak with. Medkit couldn't handle getting closer, he felt that if he did everything would spiral out of his carefully crafted control.

And yet when it was just the two of them half-dressed sitting in the dark, Medkit tinkering with her arm and it's connection to his crystal.. something sparked between them. One thing led to another and he was so caught up in the pleasure of having another Inphernal's touch on his body that he didn't notice when it was over.

Medkit was shocked when Scythe asked if he wanted her to stay after, instead of throwing a rag at him and telling him to wipe off and finish his job.

She stayed, he was held, he fell into it again and again..

So, Scythe could've caused this as well...

Both of which worried him. Subspace siring the newspawn would make his life absolute hell. Scythe being the sire would make things awkward, as they weren't even more than friends.. and he thought they were being safe.
