throughout the entirety of the semi-canonical bow twitter takeover event, bow has shown a level of neutrality between her and apple. by this point, they have made their ammends with bow saying she explained what she did and apologized with "im sorry". she isnt exactly outwardly super chummy and best friends with apple here, but its not entirely negative. another thing thats even far less canonical but still worth pointing out was one of the scrapped tweet ideas for bow to have put out during the event

the idea of apple trying to get close with apple through what she knew of her in the past but bow just having no interest out of some level of pettyness and bitter towards her now forever dead state... this being from the girl that will try her very hardest to prove her value to others but will spiral into negative emotions if it isnt reciprocated...

in the real world, this was before the snow bow comic in which, the two are very clearly closer now on good terms showing deep care for one another. its safe to say the beginning parts of apple's stay at the mansion werent the easiest for either of them. why would it be? they both were rivals in a way competing for the attention of the same person, and the reason marsh and apple broke off was due to bow's own jealousy

we cant say for certain how exactly apple felt during that time when she started living with the other 3, but i think she was at the least aware of the obvious elephant in the room to an extent. given the scrapped idea suggesting she keeps trying to bond but bow pushes her away for rather admittedly understandable reasons and her expression in the photo is the least positive and sure of the vibe, i think apple here still feels like the ugly duckling of the group. shes confused to see bow be this upbeat and chipper in her presence, and thats not to say bow hates apple at all, but like ive said them trying to be within the same space with marshmallow in these early stages had to have been awkward. apple's confusement in bow's attitude because she possibly mightve been less so around her, deliberately including apple in on the fun, this weird disconnect between her and the others because she clearly isnt entirely welcomed... even with her attempts to get along it can only register to her as being the odd one out

such a feeling definitely still lingers within her. as far as we know, this scene was more played out as jokes to ease up the tension from the previous scene with marsh and bow. however to me, thinking on the photograph and whats been said it kinda recontextualizes this line. apple is hugely shoving down her feelings and has been for a long time at this point
