Beth smiles at me with pure joy and innocence “Is that really true?” She asks happily “Ye-” “No it’s not.” Beth’s smile fades and I glare at Rick “Sweetie, don’t listen to your mother about love,” Rick says, resting on the doorframe “We’ve been married for years and our heartbeats have never been in sync.” I roll my eyes.

“Mommy says that’s because you don’t love her that much.”

I freeze and look away from him. “But that’s not true,” Beth giggles “You love Mommy a whole lot, right?” Rick was quiet and I swallow a sigh “C-come on, Beth. Let’s go take your bath.” I say with a nervous smile “Yay!” Beth giggles

*Thump Thump Thump* *Thump......Thump.... Thum-*

“You need to tell your family soon Mrs.-” “Ms.” I growl softly “Sorry...Ms. Sanchez,” The doctor corrects himself “But, it’s not looking so good. You need to alert your family of your current state in your health.” I sigh quietly “I’ll make sure that they are aware” 

The doctor sends me a sad smile “Spend time with your family, Y/N. While you can.” He says, leaving the room, I look down sadly. “Great.....first time I talk to my daughter in 14 years....I have to tell her I’m-” My voice won’t even allow me to say it.

"Hello?” 

I groan quietly “Hello Jerry.” I say “Uh....who is this?” Jerry asks “Just put Beth on the phone.” I sigh “Now hold on, you can’t just call and demand-hey!” “Hello.” 

I smile at the sound of Beth’s voice “Hi Sweetie.” “Mom?! Is that really you?” Beth asks “Yes. I’m sorry it’s been so long. Life’s been....little hard for me.” I sigh sadly “Aw...it’s fine Mom, I....understand,” Beth voice gets quiet “Are you coming over for a visit?” 

“I was actually hoping that I could spend time with you and the kids.” I say with a soft smile “Really?” Beth says happily “Yeah, but I’m only inviting people that have my DNA.” I say sternly “Ok! Um, any idea where you want to meet?” Beth asks, I hear shuffling around her “I’m cool with whatever.” “Great! I know exactly where we should go!”.....

“Don’t love you enough?! What do you mean ‘don’t love you enough’?!” 

I sigh ‘Rick....you weren’t supposed to hear that! I only said that because I want our child to believe in something without you ruining her faith in the world!” I defend “Oh please Y/N,” Rick scoffs, crossing his arms “You aren’t happy with me, are you? And when you leave me, Beth will go with you because she’ll think it’s my fault!” 

My jaw drops “Excuse me?! This is what I was talking about! You don’t even trust me! I love you more than anything Rick-” “You sure didn’t make it seem that way to our child.” Rick grumbles “I never said I didn’t love you, Rick. I said you didn’t love me. I know you don’t, you’re just here for free food, a bed to sleep in and s**. I’m not stupid, I know you don’t love me. If you loved me...you would act like it.” I say harshly, tears pricking my eyes.

Rick stares at me with a blank expression before grabbing his coat “Rick? What are you doing?” I ask “Leaving.” Rick says in a quick huff before storming out the room and out the front door “Of course he is.” I sigh as Rick drives away.

“Mommy?”

I turn quickly to see Beth staring at me nervously “Will Daddy be back?” She asks, running up to hug my leg “I....I honestly don’t know, Sweetie.” I sigh sadly
