Images from the Book of the Faiyum at the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore. The hippo / croc goddess at top is Sobek’s mum Neith. Next, Sobek of Shedyt (the Faiyum). The cow is given the name of the goddess Ihet; she is the Celestial Cow, supported by Shu, with Re and his solar barque underneath. And at bottom, in the form of a lion with a ram’s head and a crocodile’s tail, is Amun-Re.
