So today my husband and I decided to watch something spooky for spooky month and we decided on a shared childhood movie: Igor!
My notes after the movie:
My husband and I had a bit of a talk about how the aesthetic of the movie is, the music, the outfits, the body shapes, the steampunk and how it sort of creates itself into a new thing, and it comes out so good. The kooky animation still holds up nowadays.
Scamper is still my favorite with his jokes, I was doubled over multiple times laughing at them. I don't know how they got away with them, but I wasn't bothered at all.
This cast is very packed full of people that I didn't know were in it, like Christian Slater, John Cleese????
And finally, the girl we've all waited for. A girlie obsessed with musicals, my kind of main character. It was so nice to see someone who looks like me on screen. Eva is a big girl. Fat. And she's shown as beautiful. And she is! I lost my shit when I saw her at the end on a Cabaret poster, and genuinely represented as attractive.
I always found her as beautiful as a kid, and I still do now.
She and Igor were so friggin cute too, the love story was so- AHHH, the ending where they talk about getting a pet like it's a kid? My heart.
