YES, YES … SUCH AN IMPORTANT DECISION WOULD require Wolfram’s most careful consideration indeed. It was a curious thing, though, how adults often struggled with deliberation. The Right Choice seemed obvious to little Ari, for she firmly believed in her heart of hearts that this extravagant fuchsia sunhat, complete with feathers and flowers all in a matching pink, had the character Wolfram needed. So there they stood, father and daughter, in the center of the hat shop next to the display where the ornate hat was perched. Many a shopper cast a quick glance at the accessory, only for them to tighten their faces and hurry over to another section of the store. From Ari’s perspective, this behavior gave the impression that Wolfram was not the only customer who needed to consider this. Their faces were pinched with deep thought, their movements as swift as their minds. What if someone else made up their mind before Wolfram? There couldn’t possibly be another like it … This hat is one of a kind!

Ari desperately tried to hide her fraying patience—it was bad manners to express a sense of urgency over trivial matters—but there was a noticeable lack of stillness that the child exhibited as she waited for Wolfram to decide. A light bouncing on her toes, a wiggling of tiny fingers. That is right; she expected that he would make this decision now, not later, and never once considered that her father’s answer might have been more of a dismissal than a promise.

First bid for attention is ignored, written off as a throat clearing and nothing more. It is the volume of what could have been mistaken for rambling that alerts it was her attention he sought, and the point at which she lowers her own reading material to give it.

Intrigue on what he's decided worth breaking the silence between them aside, it would be inorpportune to completely ignore his attempt at trying to socialize with her after he'd made such an effort. And she did find it curious that, of all things, it was a 'daily horoscope' he wanted to share with her. And if this were true, then would she also be correct in assuming this was Wolfram's own way of trying to bond? Over a shared trait? And if she had gone ahead of herself and placed herself too highly, then he still had inadvertently told her something about himself, however small, and that had to count for something, didn't it? She, herself, could find it a bit cute, even.
