Oggi è stata una giornata speciale. Grazie a @bookingcom ho provato l'esperienza di poter sciare ⛷ e stare sulla neve qui a Roccaraso, per la prima volta. E come non ringraziare l'istruttore di sci Fabio, che armato di tanta pazienza mi ha assistito e insegnato le basi dello sciatore. ⁣ Samsung Galaxy Note 10+⁣ Taken on 11/10/2020.⁣ ⁣ Gualdo Tadino, a busy little town with very ancient origins, sits on the Sant'Angelo hill on the lower skirts of Mount Penna in the Umbrian Apennine Mountains.⁣ ⁣ Like many of the hill towns of Umbria, it's ancient core sits high up, dominated by a medieval castle called the 'Rocca Flea' (see photo 4), one of the finest examples of military architecture in Umbria.⁣ ⁣ However, unlike other towns in Umbria, Gualdo Tadino remains relatively unknown to tourists, perhaps because its historical centre is surrounded by a busy, industrious modern area that continues to grow on the valley below which, from the outset, doesn't look very appealing.⁣ ⁣ But as soon as I entered the 'Porta di San Benedetto', which was the main towered gate of the town's walls, I couldn't help but be amazed by the wealth of ancient architecture that there was to see.⁣ ⁣ From old churches dating to the 13th century – Santa Maria dei Raccomandati, San Donato and San Francesco – to the majestic cathedral with its Romanesque-Gothic façade and big rose window, to the Podestà Palace (see photo 3), also constructed in the 13th century, Gualdo Tadino is a hidden treasure that's a joy to behold—and that's in spite of it being struck by an earthquake in 1751.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Gualdino Tadino is reachable by bus from Foligno ('BusItalia' line E29) Monday to Saturday. However, you can also get there by train on the Foligno–Ancona rail line. And owing to its environmental, cultural and artistic heritage, Montefalco has become part of the club 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy'.⁣ ⁣ The main square of the town, Piazza del Comune, offers a close-knit concentration of aristocratic palaces such as the 14th-century Palazzo Pambuffetti, Palazzo Senili and Palazzo Santi-Gentili (both from the 15th century) and the palaces Palazzo Langeli and Palazzo De Cuppis o Camilli (both from the 16th century).⁣ ⁣ The Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) was constructed in 1270, then embellished with a loggia, and in the 18th century the bell tower, la Torre Campanaria, was added and topped with a fastigium to modify the facade.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Take a train from Rome, Ancona or Perugia to Foligno.
