One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen: a praying mantis munching on a bee in a field of flowers! 🌼 I was wandering through the beautiful prairie at @cincynature and stopped to photograph a metric paper wasp on a clump of goldenrod. Soon, a fly on the flowers caught my attention. Somehow, between those 2 buggies, I almost didn’t notice the much larger one hanging out with its snack in the same cluster of flowers. 🍽 An hour or so later, I walked past this spot on my way out, and the mantis was still there, this time with empty hands. As a bee flew by, it reached up in an (unsuccessful) attempt to grab it out of the air.
