⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 24mm | 1/6s | f/14 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 10/10/2020.⁣ ⁣ The only Italian region that borders neither the sea nor another country, Umbria has kept outside influences at bay and ensured that many of Italy's old-world traditions survive today.⁣ ⁣ The region is best known for its medieval hill-top towns, many beautifully preserved and dramatically set. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 29mm | 1/1600s | f/4 | ISO 100⁣ Taken on 10/10/2020.⁣ ⁣ Situated in the central west area of Umbria, Montefalco stands on a hill carpeted with olive trees and grape vines, in the middle of the valley of the Clitunno, Topino and Tiber rivers.⁣ ⁣ This breath-taking position has led to Montefalco being known as 'The Balcony-Rail of Umbria'. And owing to its environmental, cultural and artistic heritage, Montefalco has become part of the club 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy'.⁣ ⁣ The main square of the town, Piazza del Comune, offers a close-knit concentration of aristocratic palaces such as the 14th-century Palazzo Pambuffetti, Palazzo Senili and Palazzo Santi-Gentili (both from the 15th century) and the palaces Palazzo Langeli and Palazzo De Cuppis o Camilli (both from the 16th century).⁣ ⁣ The Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) was constructed in 1270, then embellished with a loggia, and in the 18th century the bell tower, la Torre Campanaria, was added and topped with a fastigium to modify the facade.⁣ ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲:⁣ ⁣ Take a train from Rome, Ancona or Perugia to Foligno. Tiny stone houses that dot the Umbrian countryside form this mesmerising and charming place.⁣ ⁣ Spello used to be a place that tourists only occasionally stopped at—and that's despite being listed as 'one of the most beautiful villages in Italy' and situated just a short distance from Assisi, a world-famous pilgrimage destination.⁣ ⁣ But that's changed thanks to the incredibly alluring power of Instagram.
