@jesselauzon If you collect things (please tell me that you collect things?) then you’ll already know that there are a myriad of ways to justify a find. The first, and my personal favourite technique, is by price: those finds that are irresistibly affordable are, well, irresistible, and therefore require little (if any) justification. There’s also scarcity: the ‘I never come across these’ or the ‘I’ve never ever seen one like it’ test. And then there’s the familiarity justification: ‘my Mom had one just like this!’ - one doesn’t resist a find inspired by familiarity, that’s an emotionally impossible one to resist. And, to be sure, we cannot forget the ‘set’ test, another favourite justifier which sounds a little something like ‘oooh this will help me complete my set!’ If you collect things (please tell me that you collect?), then I’m sure you’ve heard yourself say (exclaim?) at least one of these before and if you stand still inside an antiques shop (is that even possible?) long enough, you will no doubt be treated to a symphony of overheard justifications just like these. Thems just the rules of collecting (I don’t make these rules up, I swear) and rules are important. Especially if you collect things (you collect things, yes?). Yes.
