Baffling to me that Deltarune features a protagonist who is clearly in the midst of spiraling, shares half a room with their accomplished and over hyped adoptive brother while their side is barren, and literally rips out their heart and tosses it in a cage

And fandom's takeaway is "this is a good thing for them to be doing, and in fact the best ending for the game is if they cut their heart out entirely.
