Thanks to the lovely responses to my poll, I shall give this another go then this year!
As always, the list will be updated with pairings as we go along, and you're very welcome to send in suggestions/requests (that I might or might not accept. At this point, I've done enough prompt lists to have worked up a good catalogue of characters and pairings)
In general, that means no Hobbits except Bilbo/Thorin, no humans except Faramir/Ăowyn or Boromir/OC (and also only if @scyllas-revenge asks), no FĂli/Ori, no dwarf incest)
The prompt list this year comes from @cilil and can be found here.
Whenever possible (or desired), I'll add some prompts from @tolkienpinupcalendar's list as well. It can be found here.
Thank you, friend!
Prompts will be under the cut!

I never thought that you and I would ever meet again
Ah, an experiment. A longer fic, in-universe, for The Hobbit. Shameless mix of movie and book canon when it comes to ages, a bit vague on timelines.
This fic will contain blood, injury, eventual smut, lots of overly dramatic scenes, emotional hurt, you name it
When Erebor fell, Ulvhild saved an orphaned baby, who would grow up to become a major source of worry and pain. She was on the verge of fulfilling all her dreams, but Thorin's quest and subsequent misunderstandings have left her bereft. On the road once more with the sister she thought she'd lost, she ends up in a place she'd never thought she'd see again. Both dams need to face their past...and the men they'd left for dead .

âThorin, you really should take aâŠâ
Bilbo fell silent as soon as heâd crossed the threshold of the small, dark room the King under the Mountain stubbornly claimed was a perfectly appropriate office.
Looking up pointedly, the newly restored regent set aside the magnifying lens he used to read the tiny script of one of his Blue Mountain correspondents slowly. âI was just about to take a break. How good of you to join me.â
There was something so seductively smouldering in his gaze and voice that the Hobbit promptly felt his ears and cheeks warm up treacherously.
Bilbo had yet to see Thorin sit on his actual throneâheâd been recovering from his grievous injuries until recently, and the restoration and repair crews had not cleared the throne room thus farâbut he couldnât imagine that his beloved could have cut a more alluringly impressive figure on that ancestral seat of power than he did behind the massive oaken desk.
When Thorin braced his broad hands against the littered papers and drew himself up carefully, his future consort felt his knees turn to jelly.
âOr did you need something else from me?â the dwarf asked, his voice heavy with unmistakable mischief. âWhy donât you come here and assist me?â
Bilbo hesitated, prompting a gentle reminder that this was an order from his king rather than a polite invitation.
In the Shire, nobody would have dared speak to Bilbo in that tone, and the titillating irreverence only stoked the fire, spreading from his soft belly to his quivering legs.
âIs that so?â he gasped even as his feet started moving towards the throne of wisdom and wood heâd so admired only a moment prior.
âI know youâre not partial to this chamber,â Thorin hummed as he caught Bilbo by the wrist and tugged him behind the desk resolutely. âHowever, I think I know a way to reconcile you with it.â
âAs your obedient and devoted subject,â Bilbo teased, letting himself be crowded against the solid slab of old oak behind him, âI must insist that you donât overexert yourself, my liege.â
Chuckling softly, Thorin swept aside the letters heâd been working on and waved an inviting hand at the free space.
âAnother order?â Bilbo grinned but hopped onto the tabletop willingly enough.
When Thorinâs lips descended upon his impish face with all the authority of a true-born leader and his hands spread Bilboâs thighs wide enough to step into the gap, the mouthy adventurer soon gave up on jesting and jeering.
Often, Bilbo reminded his better half that paperwork and diplomatic relationships were as important as fearless warfare and unshakeable loyalty, and so he truly felt as if he was being spread out and undressed leisurely on a throne rather than just an ancient escritoire.
He heard the discreet scratching of a drawer being opened, and then Thorinâs thick, steady fingers were working him open with something Bilbo could only hope was lube and not age-old ink.
âCareful,â he warned again as Thorin fumbled with the countless clasps and fastenings of his heavy garments before lining himself up against his loverâs welcomingly warm body.
âWould you prefer I sit in my chair?â Thorin whispered as he lifted Bilboâs legs onto his shoulders and pushed into him steadily, hitting every sweet spot just right.
âStubborn dwarf,â Bilbo cursed and lost himself in this wonderful, royal homecoming.

Haleth loses a bet, Caranthir loses a fraternal dispute. They're forced into a blind date...with each other.
Alas, they once knew one another only too well...
Prompts: high school/college sweethearts, âcome hereâ, date night gone wrong, semi-public sex, abduction, Thinking Bout You â Frank Ocean
Pairing: Haleth x Caranthir
Words: 3 305
Warnings: vaginal sex, heartache, penetrative sex, sex in a restaurant
âSo, about that bet you lostâŠâ
Haleth stared at her friend, feigning innocence and ignorance. âWhat?â
Of course, she remembered the foolish wager sheâd made and deplorably lost, but sheâd hoped that the other woman would forget about it in time.
âListen, Iâm not a monster. I organised a date for you.â
Even though she very much didnât like the sound of that, Haleth kept her mouth shut and her demeanour calm as she listened to the otherâs long-winded explanations.
âAs far as I know, heâs not only handsome but also has a good job in financeâŠâ
âSo whatâs the catch?â Haleth jeered; she loved and trusted this specific friend enough not to be overly worried that sheâd end up spending the evening with a serial killer.
Moreover, Haleth was certain that she could defend herself well enough if the situation turned dicey.
âHeâs known to beâŠcritical. I fear heâs not very social, and his friends and siblings are getting a little worried about him. Sounds lonely, donât you think?â
âVery well,â Haleth said, relieved that it would take so little to get rid of the looming debt sheâd made inadvertently. âIâm in. I can never resist the attempt to save a basket case. Where are we to meet and what should I wear?â
Haleth was by no means a vain woman, but she didnât want to show up in athleisure to a fancy restaurant, orâon the contraryâbe caught wearing a cocktail dress in a hole in the wall.
âAs I said, heâs a man of good taste,â her friend squeaked. Sheâd evidently not expected Haleth to agree so readily. âSo, Iâd say go with something elegant and classic.â
âStuffy, you mean?â Haleth teased while already mentally browsing through her limited formal wardrobe.
âFriday?â
âFriday works for me, yeah,â Haleth sighed and motioned at the fridge behind them. âGet me another beer and explain how and why I get this questionable honour.â
For the next two hours, she listened to her devious companion as she drew the portrait of a profoundly misunderstood loner with dark hair and beautiful eyes.
âIâve seen one picture of him, and I can promise you that heâs quite the looker.â
Shrugging, Haleth reiterated her position on good looks as sheâd done a thousand times before. She did not care about the appearance of a man as long as he was kind, interesting, and courteous.
âLike, Iâm not saying you should sleep with him,â her friend drawled, swinging her own drink around recklessly. âNevertheless, I definitely think that it could benefit both of you to let loose a little bit.â
Ah, Haleth thought, now we get to the crux of the matter. Her friends believed her to be unduly picky when it came to sexual and romantic partners, which wasâall things consideredâa fair assessment.
Alas, they didnât know that she was still nursing a broken heart, because she never spoke about the one sheâd left after college and had regretted ever since.
Looking up and down the deserted street, Caranthir couldnât help the queasy feeling in his gut from turning into pull-blown wariness.
Something was wrong.
He should, of course, have known better. Why would Celegorm and Curufin invite him to go out with them if they hadnât hatched out some unholy plan to denigrate and shame him?
He was about to turn around and go back home when he was wrenched into a grimy alley by four strong arms.
âUnhand me,â Caranthir yelled, relieved that his voice was strong and unwavering despite the shock thrumming through his limbs like lightning. âDonât you know who my father is? I shall not be abducted so easily. Also, nobody will pay a ransom for me; theyâll hardly notice that Iâm missing. They might even welcome it, come to think about it further.â
âDonât be silly,â Celegormâs suave voice resounded. âWe wouldnât pay a ransom for you because weâd come and free you, of course. Also, we know perfectly well who your father is.â
Mortified, Caranthir whirled around.
âYou wound my heart,â Curufin drawled, his eyes growing wide and wet on command. âAbduction! How can a devoted siblingâs love be given such a terrible, defamatory name?â
Baring his teeth in annoyance, Caranthir let them steer him through the alley and down another, much better-visited street until they stopped outside a neat, rather elegant restaurant.
âNot your usual kind of eatery,â he commented disobligingly.
Celegorm merely sucked his teeth at this feeble attempt at riling him up. âIndeed not,â he then agreed freely. âGood thing then that I donât intend to have dinner here.â
âNeither do I,â Caranthir spat, even though he had very much planned to do so in the near future. Nevertheless, he didnât see the sense in admitting that resolution to his wayward, insolent brothers.
âWell, that is tough luck,â Curufin jeered. âYou have a reservation inâŠâ He checked his expensive wristwatch flippantly. â5 minutes. Iâm sure your date is already waiting for you.â
âUnlike other savages, you certainly wouldnât want to be late, would you?â Celegorm added in a disgustingly saccharine tone.
âMy what now?â Caranthir screeched, digging his hands into his pockets to keep himself from trying to strangle his brothers. âWhat have you done?â
âAh, itâs a long story. Letâs just say, we were confronted with a challengeâfinding a date for some sharp-tongued ladyâand we took the matter very seriously.â
âDid you? Did you really? Or did you just sacrifice your own brother in a last-ditch effort not to forfeit?â Caranthir said, ice-cold mockery dripping from every word he spoke.
Cackling good-humouredly, the sinister henchmen with whom he shared blood and history scampered away merrily, leaving Caranthir exactly 3 minutes to get to the table that had been booked in his name.
As the waiter took him to a secluded corner of the main room, though, the unwitting gallantâs blood ran cold.
There, scrolling through her phone slowly, sat his ex-girlfriend, who was the love of his life.
âYeah, that fits,â Haleth groaned as she looked up, only to see the man sheâd left so many years ago. âTall, handsome, and ill-tempered.â
âGood evening to you, too,â Caranthir replied stiffly, going as far as to insinuate a bow.
Heâd always been laughably formal, and Haleth at once remembered why sheâd fallen for that odd, charming amalgamation of a hot temper and a soft heart so irreversibly.
âI guess itâs true when they say that you always meet twice,â she said, motioning at the empty chair on the other side of the small, intimate table theyâd been granted. âSit, Moryo. We have a duty to fulfil, and I shall not defect.â
âNeither will I,â he declared haughtily.
Once he was seated, though, his mien softened. âHow have you been, Haleth?â
She grimaced expressively.
âI achieved what I set out to do,â she then replied evasively.
âAnd now, youâre back in town. Didnât think of giving me a ring, though, did you?â
âOnly a million times,â she admitted, swirling the little stirrer through her half-empty cocktail glass pensively. âBut what good would that have done? What was I to say?â
He shrugged. To anyone else, it might have translated as dispassion or even disinterest, but Haleth knew better. He was also still hurting.
Theyâd had a good run in college, nobody could deny that, but sheâd ended up leaving the city to seek her fortune elsewhere, and heâd been unwilling or unable to go with her.
Thus had ended a love story such as the world had rarely seen before, and Haleth hadnât stopped regretting his absence for a single day in the intervening years.
Of course, she wouldnât admit as much to him. Why reopen old wounds?
Neither one of them could turn back time and change their younger selvesâ minds, so she might as well keep her sorrow and remorse to herself.
âIâd have loved to hear from you,â Caranthir said in a voice that sounded unexpectedly earnest and open.
Mayhap, Haleth considered with a jolt of surprise, heâd grown and matured beyond the stubborn, hot-headed, passionate fool sheâd loved so endlessly.
âI didnât think that it would have been fair to hit you upâŠafter all these years,â she confessed.
âWhy not? No hard feelingsâI understand why you had to leave, and Iâve ever wished you only the best.â
Halethâs brows drew together in an unequivocal expression of disbelief.
âPerhaps not at the very first, but soon enough,â he amended his initial phrasing. âIâm glad to hear that things have worked out well for you. So, are you just passing through orâŠâ
âNo,â Haleth confessed. âI moved back here. Officially, Iâm spearheading an expansion project, but I owe you the truth.â
She took a deep breath, emptied her glass in one long gulp, and looked him straight in the eye.
âThis is the place Iâve been happiest,â she said in a halting, throaty voice. âAnd Iâve missed it.â
âIt?â Caranthir asked sharply. âOr me?â
âBoth,â she conceded.
Struck dumb by that admission, Caranthir stared at her for a few breathless seconds.
âIâd have thought that a woman like you wouldnât encounter any problems finding someone to replace grumpy, cold me,â he then quipped self-deprecatingly.
âNever,â Haleth laughed, throwing her head back in unguarded, unabashed hilarity. âThereâs nobody who could compare. How dull, dumb, and dilettantish any other man has struck me. No, there was you, and it was beyond what words could describe. And then, there was your absenceâŠâ
âI hope it didnât ail you,â he said hastily, reaching out instinctively to cradle her strong fingers against his palm.
Before he could retreat, humiliated by his faux pas, sheâd intertwined her digits with his.
âIt was like losing a limb,â she confessed in a low, uncertain voice. âPainful and traumatic. And then, the agony faded into a constant throbbing. The worst was the phantom painâthe wonderful dreams that only revealed themselves to have been nightmares upon waking. But enough about my mistakes and regrets; itâs in the past. How have you been?â
âI have been kidnapped by my brothers only tonight,â Caranthir grumbled. âTheyâre all in good health and even better spirits.â
âGood,â Haleth replied curtly. âI care nought about their well-being right now. How are you, dear?â
âOverworked, under-stimulated, and profoundly lonely,â he sighed. âThe usual, I guess.â
The corners of his mouth drooped before quirking. âI shall have to thank my brothers for forcing me into an arranged, blind date. Had they known that it was you, they wouldnât have been able to resist making crude insinuations, so I know that this must be a genuine stroke of fate.â
âA good one, I hope,â Haleth said, looking suddenly insecure. Sheâd said too much, bared her soul too openly, and she was desperately trying to pull her walls back up.
âThe best,â he assured her. âIâm not too proud to admit that Iâve been surveying the horizon since the day you packed up and left in hopes that youâd come back one day. It pleases me to hear that you have not forgotten me, for I have been nursing the wound youâve dealt me without much success for the last years as well.â
Despite its excellent reviews, the restaurant started to be rather disappointing as nobody had even tried to approach them with the menu thus far.
âCome here,â Haleth whispered, cocking one finger beckoningly.
Caranthir leaned forward instantly.
âThey have a charming garden in the back. In summer, they must serve food out there, but itâs presently deserted. How about we take a stroll out there together?â
He knew the devious gleam in her eyes only too well, and his throat grew dry and tight with longing as he recognised the undiluted lust radiating from her in tangible waves.
Thus, he could only nod and follow her as she leapt to her feet and dashed towards the lavatory, taking a sharp left at the last moment and pushing open the door to the veranda.
As soon as she felt the cool night air caress her skin, Haleth raced towards the decorative fountain in the corner of the small, fenced garden.
It was plunged in shadow and mysteryâexactly what she wanted and needed.
For a second, she wondered whether she was making a mistake; so much time had passed, and they had indubitably changed in unfathomable ways in the meantime.
And then, Caranthirâs comparatively slender frameâall long, elegant limbs and alluring firmnessâslammed into her, pressing her against the trellis.
When his lips found the curve of her mouth, he felt, at the same time, exactly as she remembered and yet entirely different.
Maybe it was the superior quality of his casual suit or the discreet expansion of the sleek, wiry muscles trembling under her searching fingers, but Haleth could undeniably sense that heâd evolved.
Then again, the tiny, breathy sounds escaping him in irregular spurts stirred up memories sheâd tried so hard to repress and erase.
Her whole body came alive, and she arched into his embrace demandingly.
Of course, this kind of behaviour was absurdâthey were accomplished professionals now and risking exposure and public shame for a doomed intermezzo was beyond idiotic.
And yet, Haleth moaned softly as her fitted, dark brown dress was pushed upwards, revealing her only set of fancy lingerie.
Feeling the thin, smooth lace, Caranthir gasped. âI thought you hated that kind of underwear,â he murmured, audibly stunned.
âImpulse buy,â she confessed. âNever worn before.â
âDid you think of me when you bought it?â Caranthir husked, driving himself as insane with want as her by delving into that kind of lewd banter.
âThe thought might have crossed my mind, yeah,â Haleth chuckled darkly as she let her hand travel up his leg until she could cup the firm ridge distending the fine fabric eagerly.
The explosive groan with which he rewarded her for her shameless forwardness was music to her earsâHaleth hadnât forgotten how vocal and loud Caranthir could be, and she was delighted that this hadnât changed.
âDo you really wantâŠhere?â he sounded flustered, scandalised, and excited in equal measures.
âThis ludicrous date night is an ephemeral, enchanted portal to a life weâve lost,â she purred.
âOne you gave up,â he corrected sternly.
âIt would be such a shame to let it dissolve unexploited, no?â
Her mind felt hazy, and all she was sure of anymore was that sheâd never respected, desired, or loved anyone half as much as sheâd adored this monument of sharp wit and reluctant sentimentality pressing against her now.
âDespite everything,â she went on, trying to convince herself as much as she sought to sway her potential lover, âwe were always good at this.â
And it was trueâtheyâd had lots of passionate, toe-curling, mind-numbing sex during their college days.
What difference would one more imprudent, impassionate indiscretion in a deserted decorative garden make in the grand scheme of their lives?
Finally, Caranthir seemed to have come to a conclusion.
âGo ahead then,â he whispered, half-dreading that it had all just been a lark, or that heâd wake up, drenched in sweat and tears, in a painfully empty room.
Even though he sometimes felt that he remembered every second spent at Halethâs side with torturous clarity, he was still surprised at how effortlessly her movements still were.
It was as if sheâd never left. Her hands were steady and fearless as they undid his trousers just enough for his erection to spring free.
And then, those strong, intrepid fingers were wrapped around him, coaxing the most undignified, needy sounds from his parched throat.
âI missed you,â he said, entirely out of context.
âI know,â she grinned. âI can feel that.â
Caranthir wanted to be vexed, but during their relationship, his propensity for jealousy and possessiveness had been a cause for tension more than once, so he knew that he had no leg to stand on.
Feeling an odd sense of urgency, he let his own fingers dance along the fine lace covering her mound once more and was amazed and delighted to learn that the flimsy fabric was positively soaked.
Of course, he still had reservations. During the long years since Halethâs heartbreaking departure, heâd often imagined what heâd say and do if he ever got the chance to meet her again.
Ravaging her haphazardly in the backyard of some swanky restaurant hadnât been part of that fantasy, but her nimble, teasing ministrations had reduced his resistance to ashes.
He felt like a starving wretch, dragging his emaciated body through the dust to make it to a haven of peace and plentyâif she didnât take pity on him soon, heâd combust where he stood.
The seconds ticked by like silent warnings; theyâd deserted their table, and, before long, someone would necessarily come out to look for them.
When he reached up to cup her cheek, all the words of desperate, unquenched affection brimming up within him burning on his tongue, Haleth gave him an impatient hiss and slung her hand around the back of his neck to pull him closer.
Colliding with her like a meteor crashing into an unyielding planet, Caranthir read the signs of her trembling body and bent his knees.
âThis is not over,â he promised as he surged into her smoothly.
Her body clenched around the intrusion, and his heart skipped a beat. It felt like coming home after a long, wearying journey. It was perfect.
Holding her up as he thrust into her with selfish abandon, Caranthir felt tears gather in the corners of his eyes, but he refused to let them spill over and ruin the moment.
Even after all these years, his body recalled the angle, the speed, and the amount of additional friction that had made her come undone so beautifully.
His mind shut off as the visceral instinct took over.
Clawing at his neck, Haleth gave small, muted screams of pure pleasure that drove him ever on.
âFaster,â she commanded.
By the time theyâd caught their breath, cleaned up as well as they could, and rearranged their clothing, someone had ostentatiously placed the glossy leather menus on their abandoned table.
âYouâre still flushed,â Haleth grinned, thoroughly enjoying the shockwaves of warmth and welcome soreness flickering through her body.
âWell, this was rather a surprising turn of events, wouldnât you agree?â Caranthir replied coolly, sipping the overpriced white wine he so loved.
âIâd apologise if I didnât know that youâve enjoyed it,â she grinned. âYou were always much more adventurous than you let people believe.â
âI was not,â he contradicted. âI am not. Itâs youâitâs always been you whoâs brought out that side of me.â
âAre you trying to flatter me?â
She could see various replies go through his head, but he didnât verbalise any of them.
âI loved you,â he finally stated, draining his drink in one go. âAnd, if this evening has proved anything at all, itâs that I didnât delude myself. You really are the only one who can make me feel and act like that.â
âLike what?â Haleth asked in a forcibly light tone.
âLike them,â he groaned. âWhen Iâm with you, my brothers suddenly seem much less absurd and insane.â
âAre they here?â she asked, trying hard to sound casual. âIâve only ever seen them on videochats.â
âSome,â Caranthir admitted grudgingly. âDo you want to meet them? Iâm almost certain that two of them are in the immediate vicinity.â
âProbably with my terribly wicked friend, yeah,â Haleth agreed. âWhy not?â
âLetâs eat first, though,â Caranthir grinned and reached into the inside pocket of his jacket to extract a shiny plastic card. âLifted this one from Tyelko. Iâm sure, as this was his plot, he wonât mind covering our dinner.â
âAdventurous, as I said,â Haleth cackled.
