Take Out (2004) by Shih-Ching Tsou and Sean Baker
Made with a budget of about $3k, Take Out follows a day in the life of Ming Ding, a take-out delivery worker and Chinese immigrant who has til the end of the day to pay off his smuggling debt. Filmed on a Sony PD150 DV (a glorified camcorder), the palpable desperation of dreary New York cityscapes and hazy neon lights come to life with the film's lo-fi quality.
