Annaaaa đ have some Fingolfin & FĂ«anor in the 4th age
Later Fingolfin will not be able to tell you which part exactly set him off so spectacularly â perhaps FĂ«anor calling him brother finally only to goad him, perhaps the simple use of the word âcoldâ, perhaps his smile or his face or his propensity for never knowing when to shut the fuck up â but he has drawn his sword and crossed the room before the thought to do so even forms and FĂ«anor, when Fingolfin presses the tip of the sword to the hollow of his throat in the exact spot FĂ«anor had once pressed his against Fingolfinâs, has the nerve to look shocked and then amused.

The Horrible Goose Fingon series by PandaFlower is by turns hilarious and insane and profound. Also fantastically written in terms of characterization and worldbuilding. Fingon time-travels back to Years-of-the-Trees Valinor and tries to stop Morgoth from doing his thing.
đż âą give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
Do something new. Not in the sense of starting a new story, but rather, something out of the ordinary that has nothing to do with your project to get your brain to break out of the rut it's slid into. At worst, what you get out of it is a nice day at the museum/zoo/park/whatever. At best, you get new input that will break through the block.
That, or deliberately and spitefully don't write until your project comes knocking and says it's sorry. Accept the apology, but don't start writing until it's kicked the door in.
đ âą tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
Welp, who could that be, maybe my #1 fic enabler, @idleleaves? :D
Your persistence always knocks me over. If my fic were that hard to drag out of me, I might have stopped writing entirely ages ago. Also, your love and enthusiasm for pretty much everything. :D
For the trope meme: H/C with heavy emphasis on the H and not so much on the C.
A+, 104/100, extra credit. where I live, man. that sweet hurt/hurt/hurt/hurt/comfort, where most of it's just pain and then you get a glimmer of hope or sweetness or bittersweetness at the end. chef's kiss. so about it.
10. How do you stay motivated to finish what youâve started?
I used to be one of those writers who would get three chapters into a story and stop when I got another idea. (It was all handwritten original fiction.) Nano 2004 taught be that outlines kill my ideas and that I can finish things. I've finished them ever since. Sometimes, it's just a summary of what I know happens later on because I got bored and want to work on something else. But they're still done.
So⊠basically stubborness.
12. Do you want to break your readersâ heart or make them laugh?
Ideally, both. If someone is emotionless while reading, I've done something wrong.
42. Rudest review?
It was on Rise Again From Ashes, which is a Maglor-returns-to-Valinor novel exploring the aftermath of his return; it was the first one written in the fandom. It's one of the fics I will point to if I'm asked to pick a favorite or three of mine. I finished posting it in 2011.
Someone in 2015 commented (paraphrasing) that Maglor was too whiny and the plot didn't make sense. They commented twice, once halfway through the story and again at the end. I made the mistake of asking them why they bothered to finish reading it if they disliked it so much. They said they wanted to find out what happened and then proceeded to tell me I needed to rewrite my novel to their specifications. They didn't care that everything they were complaining about were things I'd done deliberately (or that it had been complete for six years!). They literally thought that because they took the time out of their day to leave criticism on my fic, that meant I had to listen to them and that I was wrong about my own story. I could not get them to understand otherwise.

Prompt, if you're still taking them: Aziraphale & Crowley for 24. âThe thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake.â
(Read at AO3)
Crowley ran his fingertips over a row of worn and dusty spines. âDangerous things, words. Especially written ones.â
âBelieve me,â said Aziraphale, with feeling, âIâm aware.â
âRemember when writing was invented?â Crowley let out a low whistle and shook his head. âYou never saw so many old grey-headed men getting their knickers in a twist. Or tunics in a twistâwhatever old grey-headed men wore in ancient Babylon, I forget.â
âReally? I thought clothes were in rather your line. Fashion leading to vanity and all that.â
âOh sure, but I never bothered much with what the old people were wearing.â Crowley picked a book at random and flipped through it, but gently, so as not to damage the venerable pages. âVanity in the old isnât really a sin so much as it is an indulgence. Itâs the young people whose souls are still up for grabs, so to speak. And the middle-aged ones who think theyâre going to get a new lease on youth by wearing the latest fashions.â Aimlessly, Crowley leaned on the shelves and turned another page of his book, which had proved to be a very odd compendium of words and their definitions. âAlways struck me as odd that your side never did anything to stop it.â
âWhat, fashion?â Aziraphale snorted. âNot with Gabriel being the strutting popinjay that he is.â
âNot fashion, angel, words. Written words. I mean, the thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake. Thatâs true for spoken word and doubly-true for written ones. I mean, look how much my sideâs gotten away with, thanks to written contracts. Nobody ever reads them, even when theyâre written in somebodyâs own blood!â
âAt that point, I suspect the pour entrapped soul is eager to just get the business over with.â
ââŠOkay, Iâll give you that. But the point still stands: Heaven should never have let humans get away with writing. Or language in general.â
âThatâs going a little far, surely,â said Aziraphale, feeling that he must speak up for his beloved books and the art that had generated them.
âYou think so?â Crowley flipped back a page or two and read off an entry in his book. ââLanguages. Noun. The music with which we charm the serpents guarding another's treasure.â Thatâs all language is, isnât it. Just a tissue of lies to help us get what we want.â
âYouâd think so, after reading that book.â Aziraphaleâs blue eyes danced with amusement. âLook at the title.â
Crowley frowned and flipped back to the cover. In burnished gold letters against blue leather stood three simple, direct words: The Devilâs Dictionary.
âHuh. Not sure how downstairs missed this one. Mind if IâŠ?â
For a prompt of I really donât know what âI love youâ means. I think it means âDonât leave me here alone.â
âOnni.â
Onni stops at the sound of his name; he turns away from the dark woods, back to the clearing thatâs lit by a near-full moon and countless faded stars. Behind him - in front of him, now - is Reynir, because of course itâs Reynir, standing with his arms wrapped around his torso and that ridiculous braid mussed from sleep.
âI have to,â Onni says. Itâs as close to the truth as he can manage. Lalli and the rest of the crew are still laid out around the campfire; itâs Onniâs turn to take the watch.
âNo you donât,â Reynir says, and under the hurt and upset he sounds, somewhat remarkably - Onni didnât know he had it in him - quietly furious. âWe came - all this way - for you,â he says, then glances down to the ground between them. âI came all the way,â he says, quietly. âFor you.â
Onni doesnât respond - or at least, not in words. He knows, of course; knows what the crew went through to find him, but heâs going where they cannot follow. Except Lalli, but Onni wonât permit it. Lalliâs all heâs got left. Or⊠no, Onni thinks, maybe not, as Reynir raises his head and stays silent, waiting. Onni watches him; the way he shifts from foot to foot, the way his tongue darts out to wet his lips.
Onniâs feet propel him forward almost of their own accord. He lays his hands on the sides of Reynirâs face, and before he can reconsider, tilts his head up to kiss him - once, twice, then rests their foreheads together, hands still on Reynirâs cheeks. Onni closes his eyes; Reynir takes a shaky breath. âDonât follow me,â Onni says, as firmly as he can manage.
âI will,â says Reynir. âWe will.â
Onni whispers a quiet runo, and waits. At Reynirâs sharp gasp Onni releases him, throwing his arm around Reynirâs shoulders and easing him, gently, to the ground. Thereâs more than a hint of betrayal in Reynirâs eyes before they slip closed.
young Warlock wants to bake a surprise birthday...
A spite cake. Hehehe. This is adorable.
Itâs a theme I think youâll find in much of my work/life-- and I encourage others to adopt it as well.Â
Itâs a mentality of âfuck you Iâm doing something nice for myself to balance out how mad I am at youâ and it is great for the blood pressure and gives one a sense of petty smugness.
Spite bath. Spite shopping. Spite spa day. Spite baking.
Because youâre worth it.
