antis, vocal haters, etc.... i wonder, sometimes, if they realize how many ppl they're driving away. how many people have straight up left the fandom and may not come back bc of the vitriol and the harassment
assuming for the moment that these ppl actually care about dragon age, even if they hate veilguard... do they not realize how self-defeating throwing this giant fit for nearly a year is? do they not realize they're driving away their favorite fic authors, their favorite artists, their favorite meta analysts? that even if these people don't leave the fandom outright, they're likely to block the haters, the antis? the ppl "hating just for fun"?
and what kind of fandom space are they creating? how satisfying is it to gather around a digital campfire and talk about how much you hate something for months on end? how sustainable?
how many of their fellows are they going to accidentally ostracize? bc it's fine when you share a hatred (i guess...?) but what about when person a hates person b's favorite character from another game? what's person b gonna do? do they really think that kind of environment will always support them, will always favor them? do they really think that ppl dedicated to hating will "run out" of things to hate on, tear apart, bash, criticize, degrade?
is it so much better to publicly hate on shit they hate rather than love on things they love? like, can they post what they want? yeah! but in terms of impact... is that really going to be what creates and sustains a good, creative atmosphere? i don't think so!
but hey, they can have fun with their toxic circlejerk and all the inevitable consequences of it 👍
