"I look at you all, see the love there that's sleeping" and suddenly it's like I've come back into the house on a summer afternoon and there's golden sun dripping in from between the curtains over where my partners have fallen asleep on the bed; the birds are singing, the old house we own is painted a cool, lovely, soft white and the garden is large, we have a lemon tree, a painting room, a kitchen big enough for all of us to cook and dance around in; it's all peaceful and good and we're in love

ideal future for myself - I live in a small castle on the edge of a small town, just far enough from the city to not be affected by the noise but close enough for business. I visit the town for coffee in the mornings, and a walk in the forests surrounding it in the evenings. I fund the small businesses within without worry - people question how much money I really make. The castle is large enough to house an entire family, and it’s entire exterior and interior is adorned with gothic decor - stone statues of mythical creatures in the back garden and front yard, a dragon-head doorknocker. Inside is just the same; mostly faint lighting from actual lights but most of it is from outside, there’s tapestries depicting old folk-tales, all of which I know. Every piece of decor is either gothic, related to dragons, or involving some sort of medieval weaponry like swords and knives, spears and axes and gauntlets but never full suits of armor. Every room near the ground is used for a purpose. Every room above is filled to the brim with collections of papers, books, crafting material, art supplies, and strange, cursed-looking trinkets. If you wander around you’ll find multiple papers and objects with sigils on them and vague notes, herbs are strewn across the castle in the strangest places, always dried. No matter where you go in the castle it smells like fall air, rose petals, and incense. I’m considered mysterious but only because no one asks me questions. No one knows if I have a lover or not. I adopt the feral artists that live in the town. Life is good.

It hurts but I think sometimes when you let go of this idea you had for your future life and indulge in what your present is offering, you often realize that while it isn't what you expected or wanted it's probably just as nice.
