So since Ice’s birth certificate apparently says Honolulu I feel it kinda just logically follows that his dad was navy (cause Pearl Harbor) and I also hc that I’ve grew up there

He played volleyball in high school and then for USNA (slider did too btw)

Not many people that met him after he got his callsign can get away with calling him Tom (let alone Tommy) (his mom exclusively calls him Tommy tho)

He’s the only son but has 3 sisters (2 older, 1 younger)

His dad didn’t want him to be an aviator and between high (read: unrealistic) expectations his whole life and becoming a pilot they have a strained relationship (btw Val Kilmer himself said Ice has daddy issues apparently so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Major perfectionist and thanks to Meer 💚 ocd (I do love to project <3), mainly manifests as cleanliness around the house/his areas but also the way/order he preps himself for flights

Gives me summer birthday vibes, but idk when, probably not August though

Would kill for family, huge fan of family is more than blood

Closer to Slider than the rest of the Kazanskys (minus his little sister 🥺)

Slider is a few years older than Ice and he took on an older brother/best friend role

Ice is very reserved, but if you’re a friend HES very warm and friendly (if you’re close enough he’s a teddy bear)

Doesn’t talk a lot if he doesn’t know you, would rather observe

Loves hikes and backpacking (he’s love the pnw. I said so.)

Is a huge bookworm. Loves The Lord of the Rings, he has read the Silmarillion the fucking masochist. Loves Ursula K Le Guin. He’d read Tamora Pierce and love them if someone introduced him to her books. Loves Ender’s Game.

Very fussy about book to movie adaptations (he tries to pretend he’s not pouting. Don’t believe him. He is.)

Only collects his favorite books because they have to move a lot (libraries are a lifesaver for him. He always has at least a half dozen books checked out if he’s not deployed)

Has forced gotten Slider to read his favorites (Slider secretly loves it when I’ve forces a new book into his hands, he doesn’t read as much as he did when he was younger on his own)

While he only collects his favorite books Ice will buy and later sell books if he’s going on deployement

Loves collecting records. Specifically Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Foreigner, and Pink Floyd

Is so generous with his family. He will buy his significant other anything they even mention wanting (he struggles not to spoil his kids too much, he just really loves them, okay?)

He’ll bring his s/o flowers or things that remind him of them for no reason, just cause he though of them

Wouldn’t hate cats but is one of those people who say they don’t want a cat but upon coming into possession of a cat (read: partner convinced him to get a cat) is very much a catdad

Was always blond but the bleached tips in tg86 are cause it’s getting darker and he (secretly not so secretly) misses when it was lighter

I love your penmanship hc Meer so I’m stealing it, he can write impeccably. Can. His notes or writing he doesn’t expect anyone else to see is absolutely a mess, with lots of shorthand

He would keep photos of his family in his cockpit, locker, on his desk, in his wallet. Anywhere

He loves having his hair played with

If you’re dating he loves holding your hand or having his arm around you and cuddles. There’s very rarely a time you’re together and none of those are the case

This goes directly against the only son hc but I love the crossover headcanon that Chris Knight is his younger brother so Chris Knight is his little brother and a few years younger (I haven’t come up with a hc for why his last name is different yet but it’ll get there dw)

these are very random so bear with me here. some of them will also contain some icemav headcanons

he (secretly but not secretly) loves pastel and light colors. specifically green and light brown. his home is very aesthetically pleasing color-wise and i stand by this

he’s a plant dad. he loves plants, and as he gets older, he has a little garden in the backyard. he’s passionate about it and mav teases him (lovingly) about it

he loves animals, prefers cats. he just strikes me as a cat person. but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love dogs too

he’s an amazing writer, has a way with words and loves to write poems

he loves to host big dinners for friends and family (BBQs, holidays, etc), having everyone he cares about under one roof makes him extremely happy

he’s absolutely 100% a tea drinker. he prefers to drink tea over coffee. i don’t really have an explanation for this one honestly

shows his affection with insults. he absolutely teases mav for being short but it’s how he expresses his love. he does this with his friends and family too

100% has OCD. he needs to have a routine, and if it doesn’t go the way he plans, it turns into everyone’s problem (he’s just like me fr)

(Yes, you’re allowed to ask for specifics of either of the two scenarios presented in these hcs. Sorry I’m a whore.)

- I love Iceman, I really do, …I just wanna see him suffer a little bit…as a treat.

- Okay no, but look me in the eyes and tell me that enemies with benefits!Iceman isn’t the superior scenario. Look me in the eyes and tell me that you wouldn’t wanna see him sweat and get jealous over a girl who’s seemingly, only barely, interested in him and his too cool for everything attitude.

- The writers wanted us to think that he’s dripping in sex appeal and that he’s ice cold all the way but I can’t help but think that he just has zero game; at least in the way of blatant flirtation. I think a lot of his seduction would come from the cat and mouse game that the two of you would play and through the kind of sexual tension that only two people who hate each other’s guts; yet secretly like each other just a little bit, could have.

- There’s a fine line between regular frustration and sexual frustration and when you’re with Iceman, the line is even finer. He’ll swear he hates you up and down but he’s the one letting you shove him into an army base broom closet whenever you wanted. And lets not forget that your whole rivalry probably only started because you publicly humiliated him the first time he tried to flirt with you.

- Nevertheless, regardless of what kind of relationship the two of you have, the only downside that comes from sleeping with him is the fact that he’s typically too proud to admit that he’s horny. He doesn’t want you to know just how much you affect him so he chooses to; technically, let you make the first move. But it isn’t hard to see what he wants from you: especially when you’re finally in a relationship and you’ve memorized all his silent social cues.

- Like I said before: it isn’t hard to tell when he wants you, mainly because he’ll stare at you until you take notice; and won’t look away when you catch him. Personal space is nonexistent when he’s itching to have you in bed with him so don’t be surprised when you’re suddenly nose to nose.

- Before the two of you slept together, you figured that he was just being a stereotypical douche and sizing you up, but nowadays, you can’t help but notice that he was doing the exact same thing he does now when he wants to kiss you and is too proud to say.

- He’ll egg you on with certain actions of his, but he won’t initiate things himself unless he’s really desperate and you aren’t giving in. And sometimes; when he’s really annoyed you, you’ll give him just a little and then leave him high and dry; especially if he smiles a little too smugly when you finally pull him away.

- He was two seconds away from going at it with Maverick in most of their scenes together but let’s focus specifically on the scene at the bar when he asks Maverick if he “needs any help”. I can just imagine him approaching you during a dry spell; caused by you wanting to see how long it would take for him to make the first move, exactly like that: trying to ask you, without actually asking you, if you’d be willing to go home with him/informing you that he’s ready and willing to “perform” if you needed him to.

- Iceman stays cool during everything else in his life so that sex can be a different story. He’s not out of control but he is on edge: his emotions getting the best of him as he rushes to rid himself of his clothes and fight with you for dominance; a fight that you either win or let him win depending on how you’re feeling that day.

- Foreplay is pretty nonexistent between the two of you for this exact reason. By the time you’ve found a place to jump each other, you’re doing just that: two seconds away from ripping your uniforms apart because you just can’t wait any longer.

- So yeah, quickies are pretty commonplace. A lot of your lunch and shower breaks are spent indulging in a flurry of hands and rushed attempts to fit around each other in cramped, close quarters.

- Slower sex happens a lot less often but it definitely happens a whole lot more when the two of you are finally in a relationship with each other. And though he enjoys everything that the two of you do together, he’s happy that that’s the case. You might tease him about taking so long but you can’t help the butterflies that appear in your stomach when he mumbles out that he’s “been waiting for a chance to do things like this” while he kisses down your body and reveals more and more of your skin little by little.

- Speaking of taking things slow: he loves to take his time when he goes down on you; almost to an agonizing extent. He knows exactly how to get you off without a hitch so his insistence to keep you on the edge and not give you just that little bit more is absolutely done on purpose; even if he likes to teasingly play dumb.

- But you’d be a liar if you said that you didn’t do the exact same thing. You take pleasure in making him lose control, and it’s not your fault that he looks so attractive when his face is screwed up in pleasure and his hands are clenched tightly at his sides.

- He’s definitely a switch but he’s probably only ever been the dominant one with all his past partners. And yet, all it took was one very specific wet dream and/or a relatively innocent action of yours; like standing above him while he was laying in the sand, and suddenly he was falling to his knees for you with zero hesitation.

- A little off topic, but speaking of him falling to his knees: he probably really pissed you off at some point and tried making it up to you with his fingers; because we all know how skilled his fingers are. And while he was thinking that he was going to give you a “proper apology” once he got you good and ready; trying to kiss you and make you look him in the eyes the entire time, you were getting ready to blow him off once he gave you what you wanted.

- Eye contact is a big thing for him; especially when he’s the one in charge. He loves any and all attention that you give him; even if your eyes are narrowed in a glare whenever you’re looking at him.

- Kissing is also very important, but be prepared because once you start, you’re not gonna be able to stop. You let him kiss you once during your “benefits stage” and he just never stopped. Half of it’s because it keeps the two of you quiet but the other half is just because he enjoys it more than he cares to admit.

- I refuse to believe that his throat and collarbones aren’t sensitive. I refuse to believe that if you kissed him there, he wouldn’t immediately melt and begin to pant and gasp like he just ran a mile.

- If it wasn’t already obvious before: a lot of your sex is passionate and fiery; with heavy handed groping and white knuckled grips, but I also think that he’d really enjoy making love to you; especially when time properly allowed it. Being able to take his time and spend an entire night with you until the two of you are completely satiated and spent is a special kind of heaven for him.

- He’s pretty vanilla but he does experiment …and the two of you may or may not have had a really long night where ice cubes and praise/degradation were involved.

- Praise is typically involved, whether he means for it to be or not. He’s a talker and that isn’t gonna change anytime soon so expect a compliment or two to slip out; even when he’s supposed to “hate you”. Mainly though, you should expect a lot of teasing since it’s one of his favorite things to do.

- Missionary position where the two of you are as close as can be is definitely one of his favorites but he can’t deny that he absolutely loves having you ride him. If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t sit like that, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

- Alas, since the two of you are deviants who wind up “christening” any room that isn’t occupied: a lot of your sex is had while sat on top of random tables or pushed up against random walls. Don’t mind the marks he leaves on you thighs while he hikes your legs up around his hips….

- Listen, if you didn’t want to be pushed into a broom closet, you wouldn’t have talked to Maverick and had the audacity to look like the two of you were flirting. And don’t pretend that you don’t enjoy the way he snatches you away and refuses to speak when you teasingly question him about his sudden desperation and his comments about how you “shouldn’t talk to him”.

- Speaking of jealousy: he gets pretty jealous whenever you insinuate that he isn’t the absolute best there is at something he does in the bedroom. He takes pride in “knowing your body like no one else” so you’re not gonna get away with comments like those. He’ll immediately feel the need to prove his worth or seductively joke that you should let him practice; depending on how bold he’s feeling that day.

- He’s average sized but he’s also built with insulting precision. He has like every little specific thing that makes a dick a “fine piece of equipment” but you’re convinced that informing him of this fact would make his ego a bit too big to handle.

- His swimmers are like the fighter jets that he flies so I would heavily recommend using birth control. You will neglect using a condom for a variety of different reasons and you will wind up pregnant if you aren’t careful,… just saying.

- He’s a bit awkward when it comes to aftercare but if you need something, he’ll provide. Funnily enough, it’s usually him that needs it: growing quiet once the two of you finish and nervously fidgeting; not really sure how to ask for a bit of reassurance. You’ll pull him down for a kiss or you’ll kiss his cheek/neck, saying a “love you” or a fond “I’ll see you around, yeah?” and he’ll immediately feel better.

Sarah Kazansky gives me major nurse vibes for some reason. I imagine that she and Tom met not long after the events of Top Gun, when Tom was going in for a physical at Naval Medical Center San Diego. They were both smitten right from the start, and the rest is pretty much history!

Pairing: Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky x GN!Reader

A/N: I wasn't sure how to write this as a fic, so I decided to write it in the style of Preferences/Headcanons.

Tom thinks it is both bizarre and adorable. I mean, you live in California, but you are somehow always cold?? You can never be warm enough.

Your hands? Cold. Your feet? Cold.

You will be walking around in a long sleeve shirt and pants while everyone else is wearing shorts and tank tops.

On the plus side, you never get over-heated in your uniform.

At night he loves to hold you close, and knows that you enjoy it because you use him like a heater.

What he does not like though is when your lying together and your feet brush his legs. So he often tells you to wear socks to bed.

On occasion, if you catch him without a shirt on, you will plant your hands on his back to surprise him. This always elicits a hiss and a small jump out of surprise.

If you do this in front of the others, they find it hilarious, Tom though? Not so much.

Another plus, is that you are also super easy to buy presents for. You love cozy things, and you can never have too many sweaters, hats or blankets.

But this does not stop you from stealing any jackets he has.

You have a variety of nicknames from various people: Such as 'Icecube', or "Mini-ice" if you and Tom are together. Some call you "Calico" or "Cat"

Calico and Cat because like a cat, you like to sit in the sun to absorb it's warmth.

And people on more than one occasion have found that you have fallen asleep while sunbathing.

God forbid you guys ever go somewhere actually cold.

It's terrible for you, you can never get warm enough.

Tom feels bad for you, so he always gives you his gloves to put over yours, or he holds you close to share his body heat.

But, at least this means he gets to hold you close at night, to make sure you stay warm.

It's a good thing his Call Sign isn't literal, otherwise you'd both be in trouble.

- I think that under normal circumstances, Iceman would be able to control himself a bit better when it came to jealousy but since you’re not under normal circumstances and your relationship is currently more or less dependent on sexual attraction and your proximity to each other, jealousy has become quite an issue for him.

- Part of it is because of your frustrating ability to stay completely nonchalant: there’s times where he’s genuinely nervous that you’ve lost interest in him because of the blatant lack of emotion you show when brushing him off. He’s not used to girls ignoring him and that sort of behavior coming from a girl he’s really attracted to; and starting to really fall for, is more bothersome than he cares to admit. 

- Another part of it is his possessive and competitive nature. He doesn’t like losing; especially when it comes to things he’s particularly attached to, and the idea of losing something to someone like Maverick; a guy he already doesn’t like, well that’s just adding fuel to the flame. 

- To be clear, you don’t even have to be flirting with Maverick: plain talking to him will do just fine. It’s just the illusion of being interested in or closer to him than you are to Iceman that gets to him. He wants to be closer to you so seeing it come so effortlessly to his real rival will bother the hell out of him. So much so, that he’s instantly itching to tear you away from him. 

- Alas, unfortunately for him, the secrecy of your situation won’t allow him to do so and he’ll have to stand/sit around waiting for your conversation to be over so he can confront you about your “unacceptable” behavior. Those aren’t typically the words he uses; unless he’s being a dick and making a snide remark about protocol, but they’re what he wants to say so hey, close enough.

- How he responds to the situation depends on your behavior “as of late”: if you’ve been giving him the silent treatment then he isn’t going to be nearly as bold; at least not sexually, but if you’ve been spending time with him regularly then he’ll feel validated in his audacity.

- Being validated in his audacity means that he’ll confidently make a move on you: acting a lot more dominant and commanding while he pulls you along to the closest secluded area; kissing you to shut you up while he tugs at and unbuttons his clothes.

- Being less bold means that he’ll goad you into coming onto him: making some comment about not knowing you were “so popular” and other snide remarks before you push him around and pull him into a fierce kiss. He’ll provoke you in either scenario but when he’s unsure of your current feelings for him, he’s less likely to “end the argument” himself.

- Either way, you’re ending up in a secluded area: a closet, a hallway or stairwell that no one goes into, one of your rooms, etc.

- He’s a lot more dominant when he’s jealous, more likely to insist on being the one in charge; even if he lets you fight with him for a bit. He isn’t overbearing but he doesn’t let you take control like he usually does/to the extent that he usually does.

- And honestly, even if you’re usually more of a dom, you can’t deny that it’s pretty hot to watch him smack your hands away and toss you around a bit. It isn’t often that you let a man rag doll you but his intensity is addicting so you let it slide.

- You still tease him though, asking what’s gotten into him between his fierce kisses and quick movements. He ignores a lot of it but your words only egg him on: wanting to hear you moan instead of talk; to get you as hot and bothered as he is.

- In between his actions he asks what you were doing with the other pilot: tells you that you shouldn’t talk to him or hang out with him, that he’s bad news and a choice selection of mean names. He stays silent when you ask if he’s jealous, a smug grin tugging at your lips even as you pant and moan. He’s still not ready to let you know exactly how he feels about you; still not sure if you feel the same way.

- He waits until you’ve melted a bit: became more pliable in his grasp and less likely to think hard enough to give him a sarcastic remark when he tells you that he doesn’t want you talking to him. He tells you that you shouldn’t want to, that you have no reason to, because he can’t give you what he can, can’t make you feel the way he can.
