These iced cookies are soft, delicious, and perfect for any occasion. The simple icing adds a touch of sweetness and can be customized with different colors to suit your preference.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/4 cup milk. 1 cup powdered sugar. 2-3 tablespoons milk. Food coloring optional.
Instructions: Warm your oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium-sized bowl using a whisk. Put away. Mix the softened butter and sugar together in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ones slowly, adding milk in between each addition, until a smooth dough forms. Make little balls out of the dough by dividing it into thirds. Make sure there is enough space between the dough balls on the baking sheet that has been turned on to heat. Use the back of a spoon or your fingers to slightly flatten each ball. For 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown, bake the cookies. After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. Then, move them to a wire rack to cool all the way down. Powdered sugar and two to three tablespoons of milk should be mixed together until the icing is smooth and thick. You can make different colors by putting the icing into different bowls and adding food coloring to each one. Use a spoon or a small spatula to drizzle the icing over the cookies after they have cooled. Let the icing harden all the way before you serve or store the cookies.
