Ian Cheng: Blurring the Lines Between Art and Artificial Intelligence
Ian Cheng-- Emisseries
An artist I discovered this week was called Ian Cheng-- he is someone who makes AI and media art. This piece consists of the Emissary trilogy, essentially representing video games. Cheng describes this piece as “a video game that plays itself”, and consists of simulations and code that predicts the future of the game and how they will interact. I love this piece because it essentially shows evolution in video game form. We are able to reflect on how technology can now embody the most original ideas of humanity, and how it can evolove to predict and make decisions the same way we do. It is intriguing, yet terrifying, to watch and discover a piece like this. It makes me think about how far technology can go, and whether we should control the length that it can interact and take place in the world.
