10. Shoulder ((I was horribly unprepared for the amount of feels that happened here, even with limited dialogue....my own fault for picking Hanger.))
Ditto had found a ledge and sat with her legs dangling. It was quiet up there, allowing her to think clearly and breathe deeper despite the ache that had started in her lungs. She started at the sound of someone else approaching, and the war boy in question looked almost equally as startled to see her there.Ditto pressed a finger lightly to her lips, before patting the spot next to her. She was surprised when he complied, sitting next to her cautiously. He didn’t speak, and she was glad of that, she wasn’t sure if words could even form. The duo watched the sun sink below the rocks in the distance, the sky changing slowly from shades of golds and reds to blues and blacks. As the sun sets, she bows her heads and breathes slowly, listening to the breathing of the war boy next to her. Someone else alive, a tangible presence keeping her grounded even with her feet dangling in the open air. After a while, Ditto started shifting through the bag over her shoulder and pulling out a piece of paper. She folded it carefully, a paper plane the book had called it. She pressed her lips lightly against the folded paper before throwing it, watching it glide through the air before being lost in the darkness. She folded another one, carefully handing it to the war boy.“You tell it something you’re keeping inside,” she said quietly, “then you throw it, and it takes the secret with it.”She pulled her legs back on to the solid ground, “I’m Ditto,” she said lightly, leaning over and pressing a kiss against the war boys shoulder before standing up, “and thank you for sitting with me...be careful when you get up, yeah?”She gave him a small smile before turning and making her way back along the ledge, hopefully that little plane could carry some burden away.
