Jobriath - I’maman
Alright, so I just finished watching part 2 of The Get Down, and, personal opinion of the ending aside, was super surprised at the Jobriath “cameo,” complete with Dog Day Afternoon audition. That was like Venture Bros. level obscure. Way to go, Baz.
Though, on the other hand, I did find the Dee Dee Ramone “cameo” a little meh (the white P bass was just too on the nose). But at least they didn’t force a reference to his later, brief career as a rapper. Not that I would spare any of you from it, but at least they didn’t hamfistedly try to make one.
