Uncertainties have kept me awake at night.

With a tightness in my chest and thoughts

full of fright.

I worry for my country.

we say we bomb for freedom,

but really it's for control.

I worry for the starved, the beaten, and the poor.

I worry for myself and my neighbors

when they finally kick down our door.

I worry about Iran and Palestine

and I want these slayings to end.

I worry about empty stomachs and dry throats

that can't be quenched.

I worry about money and having a roof over my head.

I have hope for the future

but worry there will be nothing left.

One day, I will be dead.

You won't ask if you need a helping hand.

If I stopped caring,
