Damian had only taken two steps onto the school property, in Paris, when he heard the rumors of 'Marinette the Bully'. Damian knew those of his age had a tendency to exaggerate. He decided to see for himself if what they were saying was true and if it was, why had they not been taken care of?

Damian took to watching Marinette over the course of a month and found all the rumors to be false. If she was sitting in the library studying, suddenly she was being called out for pushing someone down in the bathroom. Or if she left during lunch, she had stolen their lunch money and used it for herself.

Damian glared at the ringleader as she cradled her wrist, sobbing how 'Marinette didn't mean to push her down during PE'. Marinette had been nowhere near her when she was found collapsed. The lies were horrible and easily disproven, yet no oen took the time to ask.

He watched as Marinette was shoved into lockers or pushed to the ground, had beverages dumped on her or her homework. The one excuse he heard, repeatedly, was 'If you weren't the jealous type, you would have more friends'.

Marinette never retaliated.

'Why is she letting the abuse continue? She is not the bully; she is the victim.'

"Enlighten me as to why you allow Ms. Rossi to speak falsely of you." Damian spoke, cornering Marinette.

"Ive already explained that she was lying." She sighed, glad at least someone else saw through her bullshit, "Lila is like a parasite that dug her way into their minds. Some of the staff, too. She uses her 'diplomatic mother' for power."

"Those are your friends?" He asked.

"They use to be, for a short while. I'm not new to being bullied and no one did anything about that either." Marinette replied, "One of them wants to work at the Daily Planet and be a journalist, but she just believes everything her best friend says because 'I personally know Lois Lane'."

"She lies to them about helping them in the future: their dreams, their goals....ambitions." Mari sighed, "I'm not good enough for people to listen to. I'm just....the baker's daughter."

Damian scowled, upset that her status was determining her face, "My best friend is the grandson of farmers and his parents work hard. He is not wealthy, but he is honest and will notify me if I have overstepped."

Marinette smiled, "That must be nice."

Damian could see it in her eyes, she was already giving up and accepting this would be her life until graduation.

"May I asked about the 'jealousy theory'?" He questioned.

Mari instantly groaned, "I use to have a crush on Adrien Agreste and they have never let it go! I even helped him get with his girlfriend, even though they broke up later. It's not like I waited for my chance for them to break up; I dated too. Luka was nice, but I was always so busy with work so I broke up with him. It wasn't fair to him to come second to my work; he deserves someone better."

'This could work out very well.'

"Sounds familiar." He spoke.

"Huh?" She asked.

"I propose a.......deal." the young Wayne declared.

"What kind of deal?" Mari questioned.

"I refuse to go to school with morons." He stated.

Marinette giggled, "Too late there."

"I will help you reveal her absurd lies." Damian announced.

"How?" She asked, catching her attention

"I will date you under false pretenses." He spoke, shocking her, " Everything I have heard about her lies relies on your 'jealousy'. We eliminate that from her equation, she will be forced to come up with new lies. New reasons as to why you cannot get along, without making her appear as she herself is the reason for all of this. She will forced to play along with your happiness."

"Fake dating, okay. If we do this, we need ground rules." Marinette spoke, "I don't want to make you uncomfortable and I know you don't like people in your space."

Damian nodded, "I am willing to accommodate to this experience. I will follow your lead."

"Oh! Uh...my dates...never really went well." She shrugged, "We would go to the movies or get ice cream, just the two of us. Luka would hold my hand or let me ride on his bike. That requires physical contact, but I've never been kissed; not that I'm expecting you too!"

"Mutual appreciation?" He asked.

"Yes." Mari sighed that her ramble was dropped.

"I prefer painting." Damian declared.

Mari smiled, "I design outfits. We could always go to the museums or just go on walks for inspiration. You don't have to hold my hand or anything. Your honesty is enough."

Damian stared at the girl in front of him. He wasn't well regarded for his honesty. It was different and appreciated.

"Do we have a deal?" He asked.

"Yes. I accept." Marinette answered.
