Usually in Pokemon whenever we have flashback there is either this foggy white filter or when it's really important: the black bars like in movies (you know like in ep. 18 with Friede and Cap backstories?) but this one is...different. Unlike other it looks idk how to explain it but... old? Like one of those movies that don't have colors except that it's more rusty and brown instead of gray.

The only other time when something like this had happened was in the newest OP and it was this clip:

yeah sure it lasts only few seconds, but the colors are suspiciously similair...

And this is where my theory comes in:

This "old" filter together with the flashback itself are supposed to symbolize memories about something/ someone that that the characters loved and hold close to their heart but it got ripped away from them and now is gone. And even though they really want to "evolve" and move on, they can't do that completely.

I mean just look at lyrics that appear RIGHT AFTER that very scene:

わたしだけ取り残された時を 生きている様な 君みたいに私の明日も 進化しなくちゃいけないのにね

"It feels like I'm the only one stranded Trapped in time Deep down I know that My tomorrow has to evolve like yours"

They seem to imply that the singer knows that they need to go on and become stronger and happier. But at the same time they sing about how they feel lonely, sad and helpless. How their mind refuses to completely forget the past and in the result making them "trapped in time" at least in their own heads.

but what does all of this has to do with Ult?

well, if we apply everything I just said to the flashback in Hz107, It turns out that there is a possibility that Ult also lost something that he can't forget about.

Now is he in other region? Went for the milk? Or maybe he just died?(honestly given how gen 9 is basically pokemon equivalent of Disney im betting on the last one). I can't really tell (yet). The only thing we know for sure is that he gave his Dusk Ball with Dragonite in it to Ult. My take is that he was suffering from a serious illness that would soon make him die, but he didn't want to tell Ult so instead he gave his son the dusk ball & dragonite as a way of saying goodbye, hoping that dragonite would stand by ult's side and then was found dead next morning. All while Ult was left with nothing but a dragonite and pain & grief after a loss of his father...
