Genuine question because I'm figuring things out:
Why is PCOS considered an intersex condition and not a dysex condition?
Because it causes variations in the sex hormones. You may be operating under the (incorrect) assumption that the hormone disruptions come from the cysts, which is not the case (and - despite its old name - not all people with PMOS actually get ovarian cysts, nor do all people with PMOS have ovaries.)
PMOS comes from the body - either the endocrine or reproductive system - producing more or less hormones than expected (hypergonadism or hypogonadism.)
PMOS has very little difference from all other hormonal intersex variations (especially NCAH, which it is commonly misdiagnosed for) in terms of where the hormones (or lack thereof) are being produced.
