I know this sounds corny but I think the ability to make friends is one of the most important skills for human beings and one of the most deliberately suppressed ones.
Making friends as an adult is hard because the powers that be wants us separated, alone, and distrustful of each other.
We can't organize unions in our workplaces if we think all coworkers are conniving liars who will backstab us.
We can't organize any civic movements if we hate the guts of all our neighbors.
This is not me saying people should be overly trustful with anyone, or for people to constantly keep their guard down.
This is just saying that in a world where connections mean anything, both socially, economically, and physiologically, it's not a coincidence that the media and politicians want us distrustful of each damn time.
If we want to improve things both in our lives and in society, we need to improve our ability to make friends.

Toxic positivity is also cutting people off when they are struggling because you "have no room for bad energy" and you "protect your peace".
Having no tolerance for negativity is not healthy. You relabled avoidance as self care. The more you avoid, the more you lose your ability to cope when bad things happen. And they will happen. Having a support system also means supporting others when they struggle. If you're never willing to extend patience and support to others when they are having a bad time, nobody will help you when you have a bad time.
Really hate how overconsumerism and hyperindividualism has infiltrated the journaling community. No, you don't have to keep buying the latest iPhone or iPad. No, you really shouldn't have an Amazon or Shein or Temu storefront. No, you shouldn't be buying Ephemera on Amazon, it's supposed to be collected? No, why are you buying some tech product that's on the BDS list?
