The reason Zelda and Impa must command the army together is because Zelda is the lone member of the Hyrulean Royal Family during the War of Eras. Although she became used to the tide of battle and accepted the costs that came with it - she would come to grieve any damages deep in her heart. Outwardly, she would rejoice for what wasn't lost, but this could only extend so far if she was left alone. She would visit the infirmary for her soldiers often and personally create memorials for any lives lost: even including Volga.
Implied compound fracture, and screaming himself hoarse... Enjoy!

Eventually, Link’s voice gave out and he gasped in air and tried to breathe instead. He was panting, then, still struggling – still too weak to think.
He’d fallen under the cavalry, he thought. He supposed he was lucky to be waking up at all but...
As soon as he thought about it again, the pain was back, lancing up his leg like knives in his flesh. He lost track of time again, facedown in the bloody mud, and whimpered while his throat was still too sore to even scream again. He couldn’t hear battle anymore, not as much at least but that was little comfort: it meant nobody was nearby, either, and he was so small...
Small, and splattered in mud. He wiped it off his face once he could move and looked around. Was there any movement? Not really. The cavalry were gone, as were the monsters they’d been chasing down.
Link had been in the fray, and probably too small and wet and bloody from knifing a bokoblin in the throat to be seen... And, even if he had been seen, there was no way the charge could’ve been stopped in time. He knew that – didn’t blame them...
But, Gods and spirits, his leg hurt. He twisted in place, trying to look without moving his hips but it was hard. He could move a hand down his leg, towards his femur. He could feel the swelling, then a tear in his skin that stung when he touched it, and something sharp. He couldn’t see – he was too covered in blood and muck to make out much. His shorts had torn, he thought, and couldn’t figure out much else.
He wasn’t bleeding to death that fast, or he’d already be dead, he knew. But that was... that was bad. He swallowed hard all over again and made a small noise in his throat. He needed to move – to get up. He needed to get found because he definitely couldn’t walk like this. Even moving his hips sent spikes of pain that wanted a scream and couldn’t even get that much from his throat...
And what use was screaming on this field? Nobody would be able to tell him apart from anything else. But he couldn’t... couldn’t talk. Couldn’t make the words work – had never been able to make words work. The tears were burning against his eyes and he bit his lip as the helplessness stole over him and robbed him even of breath.
He just wanted the pain to stop, wanted someone to help him, but h-he couldn’t...
been playing so much hyrule warriors definitive edition for the past week and a half and it is just so completely my comfort game. always loved warriors games but this one is so special to me. it was the game i played for like an entire year after i dropped out of college from burnout (the wiiu version at least, but whatever basically the same shit). i even played the accursed wretch that was legends on the 3ds. and idk this game is just kind of everything to me. i am familiar enough with it that the general gameplay almost requires no thought. i can carry entire conversations just swiping through three thousand enemies in like 7 minutes. but there's so many missions to go through in adventure mode that have different rules and parameters and hidden collectibles that i can always feel like i'm actually honestly working toward something. i've like maybe gotten to 40% completion in any given one of the versions of this game. and i don't mind even a little bit. it just makes me smile. i love having all this stuff to do. i love this fuckin game. also volga endless juggle y x y x y x y x y x y x y x y x y x y x y x. end post

WHERE IN THE GOD DAMN FUCK IS YOUR GALLERY UNLOCK VOLGA?! I’M LITERALLY ALMOST DONE WITH THE FIRST MAP MAN I JUST WANTED TO TALK ABOUT HOW RIDICULOUS YOUR WEAPON NAMES ARE! D:<
In Hyrule Warriors, Zelda takes on the disguise of Sheik like her counterpart in Ocarina of Time. Not only was she inspired by the tale of one of her many predecessors, but by Impa herself. In the face of her army being deceived by their own loyalty to her, Impa is really the only one she can trust completely - as she fears Link could fall into the same trap as her other knights. Having grown up alongside Impa, Zelda believes she can use styles of combat that imitate Impa's to both conceal her identity and give Impa a reason to keep Sheik close. Ultimately, it works; she's just surprised that Impa didn't realize who Sheik was sooner, even as she questioned the legitimacy of the fake Zelda.
Hyrule Warriors Zelda seems to act in sync with Link on the battlefield, especially late game. This applies to her Sheik persona as well, albeit a bit more calm and collected. In the field of an average battle or training mission, Zelda is the type to send endless encouragement to her troops - but, in Link's case, it ends up a bit closer to flirting... All that aside, the two are a serious threat to their foes when together. Even their fellow warriors are aware of it, so they're glad they're on the same side.
