Here's a little eldritch doodle dump featuring the Gondolin crowd! Something tempted me to draw Hurin and Huor with Turgon, which turned into a whole thing of their first meeting with the king to their last meeting at the Nirnaeth :''') The beautiful Glorthelion designs are by @ecthelioffd! <333
This was my first time designing eldritch Idril and Maeglin; Idril incorporates some Vanyar fashion into her layers, which I imagine are very frilly loll So when I finally get around to designing the Vanyar, they'll have lots of pretty frills and lace! hahaa
Hurin's kiss is also inspired by last year's Scribbles & Drabbles, where @misst1ff wrote a lovely fic of Hurin and Turgon based on Sir Gawain! They mentioned in the comments how it'd be nice for Turgon to get a final kiss before Huor dies andHurin is captured, and I really wanted to draw it, so here it is T_T
I believe today, June 26th, is the day that the NĂrnaeth ended, when Fingon was killed and the defeat of the Noldor and their allies was cemented. Huor fell pierced with a venomed arrow to his eye and the men of Hador were slaughtered in the fens of Serech after defending Turgonâs retreat. HĂșrin was captured after his dramatic final stand.
The descriptions of this in The Silmarillion and The Children of HĂșrin especially to me are so vivid and strangely beautiful; the swords like a forest, the sons of FĂ«anor scattered like leaves in the wind, the sun setting upon the blood soaked rivulets of Serech and the strong winds building.
The line about night falling in Hithlum is especially grim to me knowing what is to befall Aerin, Morwen and all those left in Dor-lĂłmin, as well as the displacement of many of the Sindar of Mithrim. The devastation of the NĂrnaeth gives way to so much more horror.
Thus ended the NĂrnaeth Arnoediad as the sun went down beyond the sea.
Anyways I hope you all have a better day than this poor cast of characters.
[Huor was] a swift runner; but if the race were long and hard HĂșrin would be the first home [âŠ]. There was great love between the brothers, and they were seldom apart in their youth.

House of Hador
"For the valour of the Edain the Elves shall ever remember as the ages lengthen, marvelling that they gave life so freely of which on earth they had so little." - Ulmo to Tuor (The Fall of Gondolin)
How tragic, how heartbreaking and bittersweet, that the greatest gift of undying friendship of men to elves must be cut short by death.
How heart-wrenching for the Eldar to linger on with the memory of that gift, a hole torn in the flowing fabric of their ageless years, a friend never returning, never to meet again beyond the western sea.
What choice do they have, but to return this gift to the children of their dearest friends, fleeting though their time may be.
Who's this Silmarillion character?
