Hunger's Bite was nominated for a Ringo Award!
If you're a professional in the comics industry--which includes self-publishing, webcomics, and non-artistic roles in publishing--you're eligible to vote in the Ringo Awards! And I'd appreciate very much if you'd consider voting for Hunger's Bite as Best Children's Comic or Graphic Novel-- Ages 12 and Up (a mouthful, I know!)
You can vote in the Ringo Awards until August 26th, and you can find Hunger's Bite in your local library, or you can grab a copy from Bookshop! (or you can vote for it without reading it first, that's always been allowed❤️)
Thank you for your consideration! Please share to your comic industry friends~
speaking of libraries and how good and important they are, i drew this last month as a thank-you for the graphic novel and comics round table awards at ALA for naming Hunger's Bite one of their honor books for YA fiction.
librarians are at the front of the fight against book bans and the defunding of libraries, and are an invaluable part of our social safety net. and for authors--they are our greatest cheerleaders and customers. you must respect the library!!! you must!!!!!
go to your local library!! check out books!!! check out MY book and read it for free. i want you to!!!
My Wick mii asked my Sterling mii how he could tell if he was inlove with someone
omg... you made sterling look so fluffy lol. very cute
Finally read Hunger's Bite, and wow it was good, just like everyone said. Recommend that book in specific to everyone else, recommend reading more of my stack of books in general to myself.

i am having an art conundrum
how do you decide what color for inside of mouth when making a comic? like for a simple shape. how do you know when to put inside mouth color vs teeth color? is it vibes? pls sir i beg you advice if you have any thank you
you know, i've never really Thought about this, but i have thought about it, if that makes sense. you got me to draw this just to see how the differences feel.
i think it is ultimately vibe and also what tone you're trying to impart to the character's dialogue, and what emotion they're expressing.
like, A gives a feeling of grinning, she finds what she's saying funny or clever. B looks a little off for its lack of teeth, but it's definitely a different tone. C is just normal talking. and meanwhile D is just bad to look at.
then we go down to E, and the all-white mouth does look a little strange, almost like she's got a mouthful of marshmallow. you don't read it as her teeth at all. i've seen this done usually in anime and manga arty styles, and it tends to look okay there. F looks pretty normal without the teeth. her expression feels more exaggerated, she's really amused with herself. again, like C, the presencec of teeth makes G look more like normal talking. and H... well, H actually doesn't look too bad. it'd probably be better if she's further away.
yeah i dunno, it's definitely vibes. just Look at what you're drawing and think to yourself 'does this match what the character is saying and how they're feeling?' and if the answer is yes than you're probably right. it'll be second nature eventually.
Ok so I have a new fav graphic novel now!! Hungers Bite by Taylor Robin my loved!!!!
