Yes, they worked together. Yes, they founded this company together. He was her boss but weren’t they friends too. It had been more than ten years of knowing each other and spending almost all day together. 

He would pass by her glass-walled office and see her always working. He had never till date seen her just idling away her time. He always wondered why? Why is she always working? These questions would pop-up in his mind initially but now he somehow knew that she didn’t have someone waiting for her at home. She would rather stay at work than go home. He wanted to comfort her but then how would he? He was a colleague. Now that he started to think about their time together he could never remember meeting her just for fun. It was always work. His mind wondered, How is he any different? Since his wife passed away he has been the same. It was either work or his kids at home he never took time off for himself. 

But, why is he thinking about this now? Did she remind him of him? Am I alone too? He had this sudden urge to go see her in her office. He stood up, started walking towards the door and then he stopped abruptly. “Why do I want to see her again?” he thought. He looked at his hands and they were empty. “Umm, did I want to talk to her about that memo?” He asked himself. “No, we had already sorted that out” He replied to himself. “Ooo I can talk about the new recruits!” He knew he had already had this argument with her but still he could maybe persuade her more. With a big smile and confidence, Ofcourse. He barged into her office and just stood there in awe. This was the first time he saw her sleeping in her arm chair so peacefully. Her sun kissed face and that charming smile on her face made him want to kiss her good night. “Oh!” “No” “Did I just?” “No no” He kept denying his heart the right to voice their opinion. With all his might, he turned towards the sofa, picked up that little blanket and covered her with it. And, then he left a note for her. The note said, “No matter how much you love your work, it would not love you back. Rest well” and signed his name along with a heart. Left the room patting his heart with sympathy and said. “I know. Let’s just hope for the best, shall we?
