As the first human composting facility in the world, we're a trusted leader in ecological death care and a licensed green funeral home. Lear
Thoughts!!?? ♻️ Forget traditional burial or cremation — "human composting" is the hot new thing in death care. Why it matters: Deciding what should be done with your remains is a deeply personal matter, and new options don't arise all that often. What's happening: California recently became the fifth U.S. state to legalize human composting, through which a person's remains are turned into usable soil. It's also been approved in Colorado, Oregon, Vermont and Washington; New York could be next. Recompose, a Seattle-based funeral home, is at the forefront of the movement. How it works: Upon a client's death, Recompose organizes "laying-in ceremonies" similar to traditional funerals. The body is then placed in a specially designed vessel and surrounded with natural materials, such as wood chips and alfalfa. 🔗 Click the link in @axios bio to read more about how it's done. #axios #composting #death #buriel #humancomposting #scholarshipjamaica (at ScholarshipJamaica.com) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClcC4ukOiU4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Jamie Pedersen is a Washington State Senator: a Democrat representing the 43rd district in Seattle, born and raised less than 50 miles away. He’s recently been in the position of explaining composting more often than most environmentalist Seattleites: specifically, a post-mortem process called “natural organic reduction,” or human composting. . In late May, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill to make the state the first place in the country, and seemingly the world, to legalize the composting of human remains. Pedersen introduced the bill and pushed it through the legislature. . “A few people think I’m the next incarnation of Adolf Hitler,” said Pedersen. . Senate Bill 5001 legalizes a process it describes as “the contained, accelerated conversion of human remains into soil.” No open-air mountaintop sky burials like in the Himalayas, no furtive mafia-esque backwoods graves. . In February, on the day of the final Senate vote, Pedersen said from the Senate floor: “I will make the claim that this bill may change the world.” . “There’s this absolutely universal experience of death and we live in a world that’s been transformed by technology and yet the only means of disposal of remains are ones that have been with us for thousands of years,” said Pedersen. . #truthforfreedom #t4fmovement #humancomposting #compost #death #funeral #funeralarrangement #naturaldecomposition #decomposition #senatebill5001 #jamiepedersen #jayinslee https://www.instagram.com/p/By1HrQgH1ds/?igshid=162ewy3h219ks
