Was thinking about that factoid claim I heard somewhere that ‘You’re a new person every 7 years’ because your cells regenerate every 7 years and I wanted to make a post about it, but I also wanted to do some research to see how true that is.
What I found from a few different sources was that yes on average the body takes 7-10 years to regenerate, but that’s not a great way to measure it in my opinion because of the wide range of time different areas of the body take to regenerate individually.
For a few examples, the lining in our stomach regenerates every ten days, while cells in our skeleton can take the full 10 years for a complete renewal process. And parts of our brain stay the same our entire lives.
What I’m trying to get at is: I found that skin regeneration happens every few weeks, roughly every 28 days. And I just.. kinda find the fact comforting, as I’m sure others do as well.
