"Wearing an archival couture piece from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2010 collection, “Mexico.” I was drawn to its architectural nature… it creates form, not just silhouette. The body becomes part of the design, a living sculpture in motion. For the styling, creative genius Carlos Alonso Parada and I were inspired by Frida Kahlo… her ability to transform pain into powerful art. In collaboration with Chris Habana and Cameron Hughes we created a custom beating heart bag, symbolizing vulnerability, strength, and resilience. [The] 2010 Gaultier couture collection draws from Mexican heritage - mariachi influences, indigenous craftsmanship, and layered historical references… adding depth and cultural storytelling. It feels especially personal, reflecting my own European and Latin roots." (x)
