1. I would like to start with his hair as one of the iconic parts of his design. i’ll be laconic and say that it partly covering his face, with the accent on his eye might symbolize clouded vision/morals/ideals/perception of reality

it might also be a part of him that is responsible for his unconditional servitude of his master and the ideals he deems truthful, no matter how cruel they may be.

2. i think it’s the most subtle while also the most prominent part of his hidden lore are these circumferences around his wrists and ankles. i can’t fail but see the resemblance these accessories carry to the chains that are similarly located on him during the scenes of his flashbacks as a young teenager/child. it obviously comes down to legato’s nature rooted in servitude, submission and disregard for personal boundaries and autonomy- the shackles aren’t broken and life keeps going on like that.

legato never really escaped the cobweb of slavery he was constantly dragged into since quite early in his life. they just kept shapeshifting until the very moment of his death. (i’m using slavery in context of his servitude of knives because it fits the definition, but i also think that he was one who put himself in this obedient state willingly, for the means justified the ends aka the extermination of humans’ race. i think there are people like midvalley whose feelings about knives’ ideas aren’t a half as devoted and honest as legato’s and midvalley finds himself in a much more unwilling position than legato himself, who serves out of his pure will).

3. one of most straightforward and obvious examples of strong will combined with no control he holds over his life. his form, framed in a fisk coffin (an burial element that became popular in 19th century when people started getting more fascinated with death, i suppose), but not for the protection, convenience (partially) or curing of his body, but rather a unit to control, prevent him from acting raw again.

i strongly believe that the golem carrying him is a symbolic reminder to legato that he is being controlled and observed. the guardian is there not only to aid him in terms of mobility (on numerous occasions we were shown that legato is able to move in jump-like motions of his own btw. he’s like a leech istg.) but rather to restrict and hold legato back from disobeying the will of his master once again.

it might also symbolize the liberation and a beauty legato might’ve seen in death itself.

4. the vision behind black turtleneck hiding the vast majority of his upper body is pretty clear- to point out how irrelevant it is. its upper part is wholly swallowed by dark matter of fabric, all the way up to his neck. it protects him from harsh desert wind and hides potential scar knives’ blade left on his neck too.

also those low rise pants are crazy.

5. His coat falls in the same category. It hugs his frame as a ginormous barnacle would, enlarges him in world’s eyes, dare i say with the purpose of intimidation and deterrence, with its sharp edges, high collar, restrains and iron. it makes his silhouette more traditionally masculine too? maybe that’s how he’d rather be perceived.

there is a certain point in his design that leans towards the latest chapters in which he substitutes a puffy, roundish sleeve of his right shoulder with yet another skull. me personally i always held it for a metaphor of how low he takes life for, wearing a part of a deceased being (if it wasn’t an artificial object, of course) as an accessory, in some sort of act of swank or, once again a reminder for all that still breathes to stay away at all costs, of their life is something they cherish. like a scarecrow almost lol.

in conclusion: it serves as his shell, his armor, his own sort of personal fort and perhaps even a restrain tool, coming from all the belts we can notice upon closer examination. it can be just a design choice of convenience of course, to make him seem more menacing for the vibes, but i tend to believe it’s both.

i generally notice that some of the ghg members who may be closer to knives prefer white color, as if divine messiahs and martyrs they serve the greater purpose, which is commanded by their master. i think it’s relevant in legato’s case too: the ghostly, pale color of his coat could just as well carry a practical reason of creating a sun-reflecting surface, but i believe it also stand out as a color close to knives’ color palette- angelic, in a way, with dark details such as full coverage turtlenecks (which i belive legato absorbed from knives’ style)

6. adolescent legato tends to wear simpler, more immature looking clothes. as we can see his vision stays blurred by the hair, wearing black overalls of stretchy nature that doesn’t restrict his actions in combat as well as a shorter jacket, which doesn’t fail to give him a younger appearance, untouched by the amount of experience and years already lived. it also lacks some of his signature details like skulls and spikes protruding. it could mean that young legato is still looking for his place and his very own way to express himself through his garb

7. Last but not least, i’d like to say a word or two on how different legato’s debut looks from his final appearance. Hair well combed, more soft and geometrical shapes vs disheveled and manic, somehow even heavier presence of a lunatic driven insane by the idea he served up until the bitter end.

On April 30 2026, Hull’s girlfriend of eight months suspected he was cheating on her. She went through his mobile phone while he was sleeping.

Instead of cheating, she discovered chat logs and links on the encrypted messaging app Telegram. The messages discussed purchasing and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

She took screenshots of the conversations and handed them over to deputies at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) on May 1.

When confronted by detectives at his apartment, Hull reportedly admitted to buying the illegal materials via Telegram. According to the probable cause affidavit, he stated he did it because he wanted to "try something new" and explore a taboo topic. (literally what the fuck??)

Deputies seized his phone and secured a search warrant. A forensic analysis of the device uncovered 15 videos depicting the exploitation of young girls between the ages of 8 and 15 years old.

On May 6 2026, Members of the SCSO Tactical Unit tracked Hull down and arrested him without incident in the parking lot of his apartment complex. Hull faces 15 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The charges carry legal enhancements because the files depicted extreme sexual battery.

Immediately following the public announcement of his arrest, his TikTok, Instagram, and Kick handles were either heavily restricted, set to private, or deleted entirely.
