#hufflepuff mod

It is with a heavy heart that I, Hufflepuff Mod, announce that I am leaving AroAceHogwarts. I have a couple things in the queue, but I’m officially gone after this post. Mental health issues as well as other goings on and life changes in my personal life and honestly issues with the author’s continued behavior have been wearing on me. I’ve put so much into this blog, I love my fellow mods, I love all our followers, and I especially love all the times anyone has interacted with and created for this blog. Y’all are a bright spot in this world. I’ve had some amazing times on this blog, read some fantastic things, took in so much glorious art. I’ll keep my time on this blog with me fondly forever. It’s been a hard decision and not one I’ve made lightly. I will deeply miss all of you, and I go sending you all good vibes and my best wishes.

I would like to leave you with this beautiful quote that defines something I need to do more, and that I hope I’ll be able to focus on more by leaving this blog:

I LOVED that you got creative with the spell prompt and created such a wonderful, relaxing little spell that you know we all wish we could re-create! And Ginny’s so sweet, wanting to write a book for her and her older brother. Then that adorable little dragon leading Ginny and Luna to that magical section of the library that we all need? You have so many amazing and unique ideas. Your story is simply magical.

Ya’ll know we love us some ace Charlie Weasley! We get a smattering of fics about Charlie, and I’ve seen some nice aesthetics, but we’re a bit lacking on good ace Charlie fanart, and you certainly delivered! With two amazing pieces! I love this freckly boy with his scaly children. I think you really captured Charlie’s outgoing and compassionate nature in these pieces. Thanks so much for sharing!

Omg, how did you manage to stick all these amazing headcanons and characters together in one beautiful piece!? I think you hit all the sweet spots and brilliantly displayed the great relationships between all these characters. Excellent job showcasing a variety of ways to be ace and the relationships we can all have with this identity!

I love that we’re starting to get Hogwarts Mystery fics! There’s so many familiar characters and a ton new and relatable characters in the app that this fic felt just like home. I love getting to read other people’s things on queerplatonic relationships and sharing such an important and intimate moment between two exciting characters that most of us go through: that heartbreaking separation from people we love so dearly as love moves around us. Such a sweet fic and great pick-me-up! (Also yessssss, more curse-breakers!)

I love absolutely everything about this story! Viktor’s relatable anxiety, Charlie’s natural comfort with kids, Victoire being an adorable lil firecracker (I mean, c’mon, look at her parents), Viktor and Charlie awkwardly melting into bonding, Molly busting in to check on her grandchild... So many exciting little goodies with this fic! And I love your characterizations for all the characters. Just... yes to everything here.

It’s sooo important that we get little breathing breaks in between intense emotional scenes and heavy action, and this was just perfect! I love these small yet not-so-mundane moments that characters can have together, and Harry and Luna have such a great relationship to explore! Luna is so intuitive and reads what other people need from her all while managing to not compromise who she is. She’s a darn hard character to write, and you nailed it! I love this moment between Harry and Luna. It’s just what we needed.

@shiro-naru for creating Aro/Ace Silver Trio 

Ahhh, the Silver Trio is so interesting, and I love everyone’s different and amazing takes on their relationship and how they fit together! And this take? Stunning. I adore how you managed to capture both how conversations and moments like this can not only be incredibly touching and intimate... but completely awkward, too! And Silver Trio in the Greenhouse (or on a trip with Luna or a quidditch field) is so the best setting for them! Thanks for creating this little piece!

asdfghjkl; The cathartic, hopeful fic we all needed! I love how you let all these characters be so vulnerably human. They mess up, but they try. They don’t say the best things, but they’re trying to say the right things (I particularly enjoyed Augusta’s struggle with trying to do what’s best here without knowing what is best). They hurt, but they also heal. All the moments in this fic are simply beautiful. They’re real and relatable. But my favorite thing is that your story ends with hope and happiness and everyone just getting to be themselves and be completely loved for it, even if other’s didn’t understand at first. <3

One of the most in character Drarry fics I’ve read, where Harry doesn’t just turn into a clueless, lovesick puppy who’s forgotten the past and Draco doesn’t just turn into some lovestruck teenager without any of his personality. And your struggle with Harry being so afraid to come out and hurting so much when he did so - right in the feels. Probably something a lot of us have been through at some point, and it’s always so great to be able to read a fic where this has a happy ending. You don’t erase the hard emotions or the struggle, but embrace them, and it makes your fic all the better of a read.

Please let me know if you submitted art or a fic and I did NOT thank you! For the first time, I was keeping track for more than a month’s worth of time, so I didn’t a perfect job of keeping track of submissions! If I skipped you it’s because my mind failed me, not because I meant to!

It’s just there to help make sure voting stays fair. Your email address will not be collected or saved and it definitely will not be shared. Actually only one mod has access to see those email addys, so not even the whole mod team will be able to see that. I learned from my mom and think it’s a great idea - to have a throwaway email addy to use exactly for these purposes if you’re uncomfortable (along with use for anything that could be potentially untrustworthy or just plain spammy to help keep your email clean and safe). I can remove it if a bunch of people aren’t voting for this reason, but I’m a little wary of doing so, as I have a lot of unfortunate experience with trolls who spam forms like this with inappropriate language/answers because they think it’s funny, and the little details like the email addy up there helps dissuade them. 3

Hello, all! We are nearing the end of the voting period for our Aspec HP Fanworks Competition!

Thus far, we have less votes than we do our oh-so-lovely submissions. Voting ends in two days on Sept 14th.

I need to know if there are any of who you want to vote but just haven’t had the time to skim through all the entries or get your vote in! How much longer would you like to have? If so, we will gladly extend the voting period. However, I don’t want to keep extending the Competition if doing so isn’t going to get anymore participation. 

So I’m just looking for a little informal survey on if any of you would appreciate the voting time be extended or not! Reply to or reblog this post or send an ask!

Oh, sorry for the confusion!

So technically, the Potter Prompts never expire - only the amount of Headcanon Cup points you can receive does. Our ‘Monthly’ (bi-monthly rn as a test) regular headcanon Prompts (ex. of the current Aug-Sept Potter Prompt) are worth 2 points during the months/year they are set for. However, if anyone went back through our blog to read old ones, we’d certainly gladly take submissions for past Prompts - they’d just be worth 1 point instead of 2. All those require is a character+sexuality for points - no fic or longer response necessary. Our ‘Monthly’ (tri-monthly and likely to disappear after Oct, sadly to say) Fanfiction/Fanart Prompts (current months) do not award any extra points and are mostly for inspirational purposes. Any fanart/fanfic submitted to us (that follows our rules and contains aro/ace content) will receive 5 points. I set the FF/FA prompts to also simply award 5 points, so they don’t technically expire. The ‘expiration date’ is more of a countdown to when new Prompts will be released!

In this case, you are correct that I meant for the Prompts to ‘last’ until the end of October! But there’s really no deadline for when you would have to submit your fic to the challenge. However, it is always cool to receive a response within the months that the Prompt is ‘set’ for. So by the end of the day Oct 31st would be the last day for the Prompt! 

I did debate offering a couple more points for the Prompts to give extra encouragement for responding to them, but I think I kinda set up these Prompts at a time when other mods were busy, and I didn’t want to set that without conferring with them, so I just decided to give some Prompts at our regular 5 point level and see how it went!

Again, I’m so excited that the Prompt did inspire you, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with! (No pressure, though, lol.)
