On the 12th of June, thirty three years ago, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition was released in Japan (as Street Fighter II') for the PC Engine.
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition is an update to the groundbreaking Street Fighter II that expanded the roster by making the four boss characters—Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison—playable for the first time. It also introduced mirror matches, allowing players to choose the same fighter, while refining character balance and gameplay for a more competitive experience. Widely regarded as one of the most influential versions of the game, it helped cement the fighting game boom of the early 1990s.
