If we're talking about the headcanons of how and when certain characters die, I've seen where Astrid die on the battlefield and Hiccup die of old age. And like, yeah, it fits the characters. But I like to think that Astrid is the one who will outlive her partner, because Hiccup, without Toothless as backup, will decide to try out another one of his genius inventions for flying without a dragon, and he will f#cking crash this time for sure. And Astrid and the rest of the gang were sad, of course, but they weren't surprised at all. Like, they knew back in the Edge era that he would eventually die while testing his flying suits.
