So Close to Finishing

I have been working on the redesign of my site, calvinbushor.com, for a few weeks now. I have gone through four or five different designs, tried two different MVC frameworks, wrote and rewrote markup and css, and, I have experimented with various techniques and technologies. What's remaining is a couple of content pages and a lot of touch ups but below are some sneak peaks of the soon to come, final product.

So, as you can see, my site is going to be built responsively. I used the HTML5 boilerplate 2.0 as the underlying foundation. The big change in 1.0 to 2.0 was its' mobile first approach, which was sort of challenging to wrap my head around. The big trick that helped me out a lot was, make your browser smaller and develop as if it were a small screen. It will help you build your containers correctly and you will make less mistakes.

I am excited to launch my new design and I think I should be able to get it done in the next week.

Working on my new site design

Right now I am in process of working on my new site. @yodasw16 is helping me really grasp OOCSS and fluid design in the process. Here is a little sneak peek of what I have going on so far. Notice the background... oh yea baby, css3 linear gradients!!!

I also wrote a cool javascript utility for pulling in the Tumblr RSS feed and parses it into the various post types.

4kg's Official Site

I thought you all would be interested to know I set up an "official site" for 4kg at 4kg.co. It's a short and simple URL just like the name. :)

The new site is hosted using GitHub Pages (free hosting = awesome, using Git = more awesome) and uses HTML5Boilerplate as a base. It also uses some HTML5 features like the new doctype, semantic elements, and CSS3 gradients and box shadows. (It also uses Humans.txt for a bit of fun.)

Obviously there will be a lot more there when the game releases. I just wanted to throw up a page to direct people to. :)

Update: I added a "Donate" button which uses the TipTheWeb service. It seems pretty neat. Err, the money would most likely be used on making ads for the game, or maybe some books... dunno. But it would definitely kick me in the pants to finish 4kg as soon as possible, that's for sure!
