While donating items to a local flea market, I noticed a computer tower tucked in among some electronics items. I told the proprietor I might be interested in it. When returning on a later day to donate more items, the proprietor said he would give me the computer as thanks for the donations I had made.

That computer is a 2015 HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF (Small Form Factor). It was just the tower, but that was ok because I already had surplus monitors, keyboards, and mice to use with it.

After bringing it home, I cleaned it up. It was in excellent condition and there was little to clean. The inside looked almost brand new and only needed light dusting.

After connecting it to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, I did an initial power-on test. The computer booted to Windows 10 and had been reset to do a clean configuration. After going through the steps, Windows 10 ran normally. It had not been activated.

But, I didn't need Windows 10 on this system. I already had a 2017 system running Windows 10 with slightly more hardware than this system. This system is, however, the perfect configuration for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.

After cleaning and testing this system, I downloaded Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 drivers for it.

Using the operating systems in my DLCC archives, I replaced Windows 10 on this system's 500GB hard drive with Window 7 Professional 64-bit. I took 2 other hard drives from my DLCC archives and installed Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit on them. After installing the drivers for the 3 operating systems, and activating them, they all ran normally.

This is like having 3 different computers in one. All that needs to be done is connect the desired hard drive. This system is being used for testing legacy Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 software, and has become a part of the DLCC legacy computer collection.

This system is capable of running 32GB RAM. I have placed an order for a 32GB RAM kit (8GB x 4 DIMMs), which should make Windows 7, 8, & 8.1 run even better. I was able to afford this since I was given the system for trade.
