my fishbone cactus finally bloomed!!! iirc they like to be pretty potbound before that happens and i got it years ago when it only had two small leaves to it’s name, so this has been one of my “oh, maybe eventually i’ll see it bloom” plants (along with my vanilla vine and psuedorhipsalis amazonica). it produced two flowers! i didn’t even know what color they would be, and i love the golden vibes of this one 💛 the inflorescence only lasts about a day, and i hoped that i found them on the beginning end so i could see them open up. sadly, but not atypically, i am in fact late 😔 maybe next year, maybe next year

meanwhile, my oncidium has been slutting it up, just nonstop harlotry. i usually get one or two blooms a year - i just had one a couple weeks ago, and this past week it bloomed again (and was the most fragrant it’s ever been! it’s the only time it has actually smelled like chocolate so far, instead of *if i’m being generous* red velvet and if not, the pastel coating on those lil easter egg candies). i noticed another stalk about to flower last night, and today not only was it fully in bloom but there is a fourth???? stalk??? that will bloom in the next couple of days??? i’m so sorry babe there’s no mycelium here for you!!

didn’t see even trout lily leaves here (should go back to my spot to see if any of those have flowered now) but bloodroot (sanguinaria canadensis) was popping up everywhere and juuuuust about to open their faces to the sun c:

ronan and finn were completely thrilled to chase each other through the sand/dirt/mud/thicket and play keep away with sticks (finn has so much more dex but ronan has the nautical advantage so they were truly locked in endless battle and loving every moment of it) so i was able to just sit on on my little tree bridge and sketch a juicily dilapidated little barn but i’m home and flomped on the couch like the bag of bones i am, ready to maybe start my last funguary dragon
