A view of the original Houndshill Shopping Centre facade. The northern side of Victoria Street was completely redeveloped shortly after the centre was finished removing popular buildings such as the Little Vic pub and Evening Gazette offices.
Houndshill underwent further development works around 2007/08 increasing its floorspace substantially and modernising its exterior.
Where Corporation Street met Victoria Street stood the former Evening Gazette stationers building, next door to their office building.
Victoria Street was heavily modernised in the late-80's to coincide with the development of the Houndshill Shopping Centre. The Evening Gazette moved their HQ to what is now known as Fat Man's Corner on Cherry Tree Road North in Marton, which has also been demolished to make way for multiple fast food outlets.
The junction of Victoria Street and Temple Street where the Evening Gazette headquarters would eventually be situated before itself being demolished during the 1980's to make way for further modern shops as part of the Houndshill Shopping Centre expansion.
Today a Specsavers store resides at the corner of the former junction with Temple Street.
