*the harvest menu at seasons 52*
seasons 52 in chestnut hill has been my new favorite go-to place for a while now. it's in the recently redone & swanky area of chestnut hill square. for a national chain restaurant, it doesn't feel cookie cutter & has a really cool, yet laid-back vibe. i like that it feels special enough for a celebratory event & yet chill enough for a weeknight casual dinner. that's what brought me out tonight...to take advantage of their seasonal harvest menu, which is only available until wednesday!
first of all, the great thing about this prix fixe menu is the price...3 courses for $29.95! i started out with the porcini mushroom bisque, which was perfect for a cold & rainy night.
for my entree, i chose the wood-grilled filet mignon with roasted mushrooms in a red wine sauce. the harvest menu includes other great offerings like a venison chop & the short rib lasagna (which i've had before & is AMAZING!). now, i have a weird, but interesting comment on the caulilini that was served with my entree. when i was in china recently, this vegetable was in literally every one of our meals...& i LOVED it! it was slightly different over there, much smaller & had more of a darker green with hints of violet color, but seemed very much the same. it tastes like cauliflower, but a bit brighter & greener...almost like a young, unripe cauliflower? if that's such a thing? haha! anyways, i made a comment about it to our awesome waiter, brendan, who did mention something about it coming from china! i was flabbergasted at the connection! i hope it's available in grocery stores soon because i definitely want more of it! or i'll just have to keep coming back to seasons 52 & order it every time, haha!
after such a huge meal, it was still time for dessert! i love that seasons 52 does this as it's something i mention to my husband all the time. their desserts come in the perfect little double shot glass...maybe about 5-8 spoonfuls (depending how big your spoonful) & you're done! i always love something sweet after a meal, but a huge piece of chocolate cake or a monstrous sundae just puts me over the edge. this was juuuuust enough sweetness with my end-of-dinner cappuccino & it's the perfect end to the meal. tonight, i got the pumpkin pie dessert (an early taste of thanksgiving) & my husband was quite happy with one of his favorite fruits as a topping, the pear cheesecake!
all in all, i always enjoy going to seasons 52. it was a delicious meal at an incredible price point in a great restaurant that feels both lively & intimate. next time, i'm just hanging out at their fabulous bar! if you need a break from thanksgiving meal prep (or like me, procrastinating, haha!), have a seat, slow down, order one of their lovely glasses of wine, & try seasons 52 harvest menu in the next 2 days before the holiday rush begins!
