“Show me a soul who likes that egomaniac better as captain,” is the dry response, and the crook of her finger brings the stone back into her hand, “and I’ll show you someone who needs to be checked for brainwashing.” The stone leaves her own hand with a flick of her wrist, skimming the surface strangely before sinking suddenly, sharply. “You’re doing fine, I think,” she adds, and it’s not grudging but it’s hesitant because really– what does she know?

He watches as she denies him the satisfaction of pity, tossing that stone so gracefully into the water. He’s glad of it, that she’s not so quick to comfort as others might be. She just says what she means.

“Mordred.”

“Don’t think I’m ever gonna get used to this,” the Knight of Treachery admitted, looking down at himself while flexing his fingers. The armor had formed around him again, but it was different - it felt lighter, and it fit him a little more closely than it had before. The plates were a little thinner, too - but it certainly didn’t feel like his defense had dropped. In fact, it seemed like it’d gone up - not that he could tell just by looking, though.

Eventually, though, the sense of discomfort at the changes faded, and he turned to where she was standing, eagerness evident in his body language and voice.
