Now that Orion is back up in the sky, I decided to re-image the Horsehead Nebula but in color this time. About 1 hour, 42 minutes total integration time, 34 minutes per channel (2 minute subs).
During the exploration of dreams, we encounter many symbolic patterns. You see, the horse is one of them. Carl Jung sees in it one of the archetypes of the mother. Whereas many theories see in it a symbol of the ferryman, a guide to the beyond, or the messenger of death.

The horsehead nebula from work tonight in the 4in eVscope, with 19min exposure. I also showed the students this through the 12in Dobsonian, but of course they couldn't see it through that (19min exposure is a lot more than the time the eye takes to look at stuff). It's a dark nebula in Orion, that blocks out the light from stars behind it.
Need more psychosexual horror movies in my life.
