“Late Night with the Devil” feels like the spiritual sequel to “NOPE”. In both movies, the issue seems to be spectacle.
“NOPE” was about people’s obsession with watching spectacle and the lengths they’ll go to capture it. Anytime you look up to watch the spectacle - the monster - you die. And other characters died from their pursuit of the monster.
“Late Night with the Devil” was about how the desire for spectacle makes us ignore common sense and safety. Jack Delroy could’ve stopped the show, but because he saw the potential for ratings, he kept the show going. And it didn’t help that the audience kept wanting more and more, despite how dangerous the show was getting.
If we get one more horror movie about this subject, maybe we can call it the Spectacle Trilogy. Or the Curiosity Killed The Cat trilogy.

REANIMATOR FANART 4 ART CLASS
Might as well show my other AU I've been gatekeeping
Bio stuff
Other doodles and beta sketches
Au explanations under cut
Haunting Past (AU) is a recent one I've made inspired by FNAF and some yokai folklore; One where the au basically starts with Utsuro killing both of sdra2 Yuki's parents, but instead of showing empathy, he actually mentally and physically tortures Yuki first to "feel something" before killing him too. Out of unresolved rage, Yuki(or technically, at this point could be said what's 'left of him' due to the fact that a lot of the drive that brought him back has been wrath and spite) remains as a ghost in order to haunt utsuro into insanity and to hopefully, death. in this au the border of the supernatural world doesn't bend to his luck as much, which is what causes that sudden disruption. In turn Utsuro uses his Divine Luck to simply blind himself from ghost!ki(I call him that)'s presence but unfortunately DRA Yuki does not have that
so the au is basically just "demon maeda goes over to drive this other guy; that's gaslit himself into believing he's a stolen identity, insane" and so DRA Maeda just loses most of his relationships as he crumbles this is not a happy story at all because I crave more angst
