my lgbtq headcanons for mystery case files
i know that escape from ravenhearst has the forced marriage thing, as MD says, Charles was probably doing it to make MD uncomfortable, but I think that even if he wasn't, I feel like Charles would not give a flying shit what gender anyone is, he'd still be attracted to them
nightmares from the deep ramble
i have a very specific problem! i am looking to invest in Nightmares From the Deep again, but I cannot find where any of the games are available? oh no!
this was my absolute favorite series growing up. The first game reminded me a lot of Night at the Museum, and I would sit with my brother next to me at the family computer, just clicking on the skeletons outside of the crypt and fortress and inside the boat so we could hear them talk. something about those skeletons just cracked us up endlessly. "I'm thirsty!" a thousand times over never got old.
I loved the Siren's Call, too. My favorite part was making the coffee for that one fish guy. I thought him saying "where's my coffee, wench?" in his fed-up voice was perfect motivation to make the coffee.
I really involved myself in those scenes as a youngster. I would make up my own dialogue as dialogue scenes came about, and considered how I (an approximate 5 year old) would react to the different things being said. When Smithy, the thirsty skeleton, wanted rum for the bottle of shiny fluid, I remember I would say that alcohol is bad for you, and that you could die from it... i really thought that would impact him, if i were truly the museum curator and it weren't just a game.
The skeleton outside the fortress would say, "leave me alone, I'm trying to rest in peace!", I would respond to the tune of, "too bad, so sad." I don't think I ever had sound reasoning for this one.
yeah if anyone knows a reliable place I can get NFtD from, it would be greatly appreciated lmao

Shoutout to Sam Wilde for being one of the best hidden object protagonists.
He doesn't sympathize with the serial killer, you can hear him reacting to his environment (i.e. shivering, humming when he finds a puzzle, heart racing when he finds a dead body, etc), and there's a point in the game where he steps outside and is momentarily blinded by the brightness after being inside dim rooms for awhile. He accidentally knocks things over on shelves and gets startled by it. You have an understanding that he's afraid - he's trapped within a killer's game with his love's life threatened at any second - but he braves through it for her. He makes mistakes, like publishing his name on the article that starts the game's events. But he also doesn't take Oscar's shit.
