Couldn’t finish cooling down last brewday until I had to pick up the kids from daycare. So I left a Slow whirlpool going for 3.5 hours and did the transfer when they were in bed. This was the result. Perfect stout brewday. This time the mash was perfectly fine, circulation without any help or problem. I think the last times was a bit difficult because I always went to the max capacity of the maltpipe. This time I did a imperial stout double mash with two times 30kg and included 1.5kg of rice hulls. 12kg fresh strawberries, chopped and boiled shortly with 6vanilla sticks, 1kg saccharose and 1kg lactose went into the 90l barleywine today, together with 500g whiskey oak chips. Spontaneously added the lactose to compensate for the high acidity of the strawberry’s and the high attenuation of the safale ha-18. just to give it a creamy milky sweet touch. Smelled delicious !
