feel free to ignore this since it's two days later but 3, 6, 8, 19 for the book asks!
book asks!
3. what is your favourite genre?
My favorite genre is like....a sad girl. Living in a city. And she's like, sad and mentally unwell. And she goes unhinged. My favorite type of character study.
6. what books have you read in the last month?
I literally just finished Boy Parts by Eliza Clark earlier today and it got me out of a reading slump that I've been in since February. It was so fucking good, I am absolutely in love with it. HUGE trigger warnings if you're planning on checking it out
8. what is the first book you remember reading yourself?
Probably Junie B. Jones? I used to ask my mom to read to me all the time and then when I was about 6, she began telling me to read to her, so I would read those books.
19. most disliked popular books?
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. I spoke about this in my book podcast but like, holy shit I hated this book with a passion and I truly genuinely do not understand the hype around her books or her in general? I respect the fact that she wanted to tell a story that was close to her own life, and I think that she (for the most part) handled it well. But just because a story is meaningful, doesn't mean the book itself is good. The characters were flat, the relationships were so uninteresting, the writing is bad, and there were so many random time jumps and no character or relationship development. I felt like CH had a list of bullet points with each important plot point that she wanted to write out, and then she just.....didn't bother filling in anything in between so no one felt real to me. I also hated the three main characters (Lily, Ryle, and Atlas) regardless of how I was supposed to feel about them. I didn't like any of them, I found them boring and irritating, and I hated hated hated HATED the ending so much.
